Design Templates are pre-designed layouts that help customers start designing faster and more efficiently. Customers can add a template to the design canvas, then edit text, images, colors, and other elements depending on the permissions you allow.
Templates are optional. If you don’t plan to use templates, you can safely skip this feature.
Enable Design Templates in Design Studio #
Before templates can be used in the Design Studio, make sure:
- Design Templates are enabled in the Design Studio settings
- Templates are created and added to the template library
Once enabled, customers will see the Templates menu inside the design editor.
Add a Template to the Design #
To add a design template to the canvas, follow these steps:
Open the Templates Menu (1) #
In the Design Studio editor, click the Templates menu to open the list of available templates.
Browse or Search Templates (2, 3) #
You can:
- Open a template folder
- Use the search box to find a specific template
Add Template to Canvas (4) #
Click on the template you want. The template will be automatically added to the design canvas.
Template Layers and Structure #
When a template is added:
- All elements (text, artwork, images) are grouped as template layers
- Each element can be edited separately, depending on permissions
Templates may include:
- Text layers
- SVG artwork
- Images
- Shapes and backgrounds

Template Options #
To display template options, you must activate the template layer.
Activate Template Layer (1) – Click on the template (or one of its layers) on the canvas to activate it.
Available Template Tools. Once activated, the Template Options toolbar will appear. Available tools may include:

- Move / Position – Drag the template to change its position on the canvas
- Resize / Scale – Resize the template while maintaining proportions
- Opacity – Adjust the transparency of the template
- Change Color (SVG only) – Modify colors if the template uses SVG elements
- Copy Template – Duplicate the template on the canvas
- Lock Template – Prevent accidental movement or editing
- Delete Template – Remove the template from the design

Control What Customers Can Edit #
You can enable or disable specific tools for templates, such as:
- Color editing
- Image replacement
- Text editing
- Resize and rotation
This allows you to:
- Protect brand layouts
- Offer semi-custom or fixed templates
- Control design consistency
