Don Norman Design Award (DNDA) is a non-profit whose mission is to champion Humanity-Centered Design (HCD+) globally, emphasizing the rights and well-being of humanity, encompassing diverse cultures, the environment, and all living beings. DNDA recognizes early-career practitioners of projects and educational organizations worldwide who take a humanity-centered and sustainable approach to addressing challenges at the community level. DNDA was inspired by the work of Don Norman, design pioneer, educator, and champion of Humanity-Centered Design.

We reward educational institutions that train people to address societal issues and award those at the start of their careers who do societal work. Why early career? Because that’s when people need encouragement the most: when they are just starting.

DNDA holds an annual international Summit on Humanity-Centered Design to bring the principles of HCD+ to the world through a dialogue among people dedicated to empathetic and sustainable design practices. It is a unique learning experience and networking opportunity for early-career practitioners, educators and others doing societal work, addressing the kinds of issues listed by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
