The outcome of the Department of Justice's investigation into the killing of Michael Brown, by Officer Daniel Wilson, is to - Not - pursue Civil Charges. Their reason for this is that they can not PROVE malice or intent in Daniel Wilson's actions.
The reactions of some pundits, saying that this case not going forward under a Black Attorney General and a Black sitting President definitively means there is no racial bias, or hate crime, involved in Michael Brown's death. This assertation is deplorable.
No. Police are conditioned, just as most Americans are subtly conditioned, to see naturally darker melanin, as alien, other, and something to be feared and wary of. This is proven by statistics, and in psychological testing, again and again.
The Department of Justice's inability to prove there was any malice or intent behind Darren Wilson's actions, does not mean that it wasn't already in his mindset. From Darren Wilson's own testimony we know he viewed Michael Brown as a demon, and not a human being, as he has been conditioned too. It speaks volumes about the consistent demoralization of people of color.
Until America truly sits down and talks about the insidious and ugly cancerous fear behind the curtain, nothing is going to change.
Yet for the sake of America, and all its citizens, it must change.
