Hey all!
We recently published a full digital 3D twin of the exhibition Bid(s) for Survival: The End of Aging, held at KBH.G, Basel and curated by the filmmaker and artist Michael Schindhelm.
Experience
The exhibition is set in a fictional abandoned hospital. Upon visiting each room of the exhibition visitors are presented with a cinematic intro. They can then click and drag to look around the room and click on artworks to see them in detail.
Tech
The website features LIDAR scans of the exhibition set. The resulting point clouds are rendered using a modified version of the PointMaterial along with videos and 3D models.
During development we had lots of fun tinkering with THREE’s features and extending them. Here are some we are very proud of:
- VideoTexture streaming system with pre-computed lighting
- Procedural neon flickering with simulated power fluctuations
- Extended DRACO Loader
