Inspiration
Differences are not things that we can control because each one of us is created uniquely. However, the world nowadays is very sensitive about differences, and instead of trying to create an understanding and inclusive environment, we choose to throw hate at one another. This is like a never-ending war. That's why we created the We Are Equal web app.
What it does
Through this web, people, societies, and communities can share their struggles or experiences regarding social injustice. We'll also give updated news about social injustice to spread awareness. Additionally, users will be able to vote on international pledges to protect the victims of social injustice.
Challenges we ran into
In general, we ran into many challenges such as time differences and language barriers, nonetheless we finally able to finish this project satisfactorily and on time.
What we learned
During the development of this project, we realized primarily that it is extremely difficult to find one concentrated solution to many of the problems regarding social injustice. Most of the viable and developable solutions will always have the problem of being way too general or way too specific. We learned, that the best solution to move the gears of problem-solving on a larger scale, regarding social injustice, is to give people a voice and allow others to internalize and understand what other people, societies, and communities go through on a daily basis.
In terms of the technical side of developing the website, the biggest difficulty was deciding which platform we wanted to develop the web app on considering some time constraints and technical difficulties.
What's next for We Are Equal
The Plan for We Are Equal is to develop it to the point where it is both fully functional and accessible to all communities and see where that takes the web app!
