Inspiration

Shazam.

What it does

See a cutie, but don't know their name to Facebook stalk them later? Well, Shazam for People has got your back. Snap a pic of the person you're interested in and Shazam for People will use Facebook's face recognition to identify them. We even look them up on FB for ya!

How we built it

We use react-native to develop a mobile app which allows the user to take a picture, as well as a web app that allows you to upload a picture to be searched. This picture is sent to the backend endpoint, allowing the search and identification to happen behind the scenes. The matched profile is sent back to the front end and displayed in all its creepy glory.

Challenges we ran into

Hosting the backend as an endpoint through Google Cloud Platform proved to be the newest and most challenging part of the project, but we really went for it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our newfound ability to be the CIA, thanks to Facebook!

What I learned

The Google Cloud Platform is an extremely useful tool, and now Katya knows how to use it basically, you go girl!

What's next for Shazam for People

We want to expand Shazam for People into being able to search for your FB friends of friends and beyond!
