Inspiration
We all know that college can be busy and stressful, and seeing your schedule can help you plan ahead and make sure you have time to get everything done. We’ve developed an app called the Purdue Pete Calendar to help students stay on track and keep them organized.
What it does
Once you reach this page, you’ll be able to input your courses by entering the name, time, and days that they meet. You can add in as many courses as you want, so this app is great if you have a heavy course load.
How we built it
We built the app using Android Studio and Kotlin.
Challenges we ran into
We were unfamiliar with android studio, but with the help of many online tutorials, we persevered through it and created a working app that can store data persistently.
What we learned
We learned a great deal about building Android apps through this project. We learned how to set up Activities and Fragments for different screens, as well as ways to store data persistently.
What's next for Purdue Pete Calendar
We would like to connect the Purdue Pete Calendar to Brightspace so that assignments can be automatically added to the calendar, which will keep users from letting things fall through the cracks. We will also give users the ability to turn on notifications to keep them even more on top of their work.
