Our team, of grade 10 students, has always struggled with time management and has seen others crumble due to this issue firsthand. Thus, we decided why not create a tool, using technology, that can resolve this issue. Now, this idea then leads onto the creation of M.yT, an app for students to use whenever they feel like that work pile monster staring right back at them will be their end. We as M.yTeam here have been there and done that, therefore we will create a tool and finish that.
It helps students deal with workloads that they find challenging by implementing their schedules and tasks that need to be finished into our app, which sorts out a timeline for them. It makes it easier for them to look at and deal with. We as students have always dreamed of an app that acknowledges your productivity levels and schedules things for you. Thus, we made this dream a reality.
After taking a day to simply download and learn Flutter, we scrambled to finish all of this code in less than a day. It was tough and stressful to study a new language and implement what we wanted and still want, but in the end, we came up with a proud yet ever still improving the app.
This is only our second hackathon, and many of us have limited knowledge of coding. We ran into a few challenges, like… Downloading and learning Flutter was an entire new nutcase, as we didn’t expect it to be so difficult. We were told that this was going to be a simple program, but this was too good to be true. Especially in a day, this was extremely challenging. Coding in general, we here at M.yT are beginner programmers with limited knowledge. We didn’t know what we were in for. Balancing sleep and work was a bit of a challenge, as we all slept very late and woke up very late, or slept very late and woke up very early. It was a whole mess, but I think we all felt that the crazy sleep schedule was worth it in the end.
We here at M.yT are proud of simply producing a product! At first, the downloading aspect of the project seemed too challenging, as we were beginner coders. Little did our past selves know that somehow, we ended up with this. In general, conquering the basics of Flutter and learning new information is our biggest accomplishment.
This hackathon was a fantastic experience for us, and we learned a lot about working together, as well as coding.
For starters, we learned how to download and deal with the entire ordeal that was Flutter. We are proud to say we have learned a big chunk of how to learn Flutter in less than two days.
We hope to add… Machine learning => Finding the most productive times A visual daily breakdown => And views (eg. weekly, monthly, yearly) Due date inputs => A place where you can input your due dates
We also hope to make the app more user friendly, a bit prettier, and adapt it for IOS.
