The term \u2018land acquisitions\u2019 refers to a highly contested process in terms of governance and impacts on livelihoods and human rights. This special issue focuses on South-East Asia. A series of thematic and in-depth case studies puts \u2018land grabbing\u2019 into specific historical and institutional contexts.
