Install Genesis Custom Blocks Pro

Installing the Genesis Custom Blocks Pro plugin on your WordPress® site is a simple process.1 Depending on where your site is hosted and your personal preference, you can choose to install it automatically or manually.

Note: If you already have Genesis Custom Blocks (free) activated on your site, it will be automatically deactivated when Genesis Custom Blocks Pro is activated.

Automatic installation

If your site is hosted at WP Engine, you can automatically install Genesis Custom Blocks Pro by logging into your User Portal and then following the steps described below.

  1. Click Add Ons.
  2. In the Genesis Custom Blocks box, click Manage.

  1. On the next screen, locate the Environment/Site Name for the site you’d like to install it on.
  2. Click the Install link.

The Genesis Custom Blocks Pro plugin will automatically be installed and activated on the selected environment within a few minutes.

Confirm installation and activation

To ensure the plugin was successfully installed and activated on your site, log into your WP-Admin dashboard and go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

If you see the plugin listed but for some reason it’s not activated, click the Activate link (not shown here) under the plugin name.

Once the plugin is active, it will look like the image below. You’ll also see the new Custom Blocks option in the WP-Admin menu on the left side of the screen.

Manual installation

To manually install the Genesis Custom Blocks plugin on any site (no matter where it’s hosted),  log into your User Portal and then follow the steps described below.

Enter your Subscription key

A subscription key is required in order to receive automatic plugin updates.

If you used the automatic installation process for your WP Engine-hosted website (described above), your subscription key will be automatically entered and you don’t need to do anything else.

However, if you download the plugin and manually install it on another site, you will need to manually enter the subscription key, as well.

Locate the Subscription key

Log into your User Portal and then follow the steps described below.

  1. Click Genesis Pro.
  2. Select Custom Blocks in the list of available products.
  3. Copy the Subscription key.
  4. Go to Custom Blocks > Settings and paste the key into the Subscription key field as shown in the image below.

Finally, click the Save Changes button to preserve your settings.
