As a developer and a sustainability advocate, I\u2019m keen to understand and help reduce the amount of carbon we emit as a farm, but also in my job working with software and customers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-title-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"image-title sqs-dynamic-text\" data-width-percentage=\"30.8\">\n<p class=\"preFade fadeIn\">Back in October of 2021, I participated in a Global Hackathon for Sustainability and got 3 days to focus my attention on a project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"image-subtitle-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"image-subtitle sqs-dynamic-text\" data-width-percentage=\"30.8\">\n<p class=\"preFade fadeIn\">Since I\u2019m keen on my farm, I choose a Farm Insights project where I used a Raspberry Pi and some sensors to collect very basic information about temperature, humidity, and soil moisture. I opened the project up to the Microsoft global community and ended up with folks from around the world. New Zealand, Germany, San Francisco, Georgia and of course &#8211; me here in Michigan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"preFade fadeIn\">It was super fun and very grueling! We worked 16 hours a day to hack together a project.
