Now you can conveniently write pages that help your team members and other users\u00a0understand, use, and contribute to your project.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"992\" height=\"656\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33885\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/07\/Wiki.png\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Create my first wiki page<\/h2>\n<p>When you create your first Wiki, we will provision a git repository that will store all your pages and artifacts.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"391\" height=\"280\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33985\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/07\/Day01.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The first page you create in the Wiki serves as the Wiki home page, i.e. any user who clicks the <strong>Wiki*<\/strong> hub will see the Wiki home page. You can always change the wiki home page later.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"842\" height=\"207\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33905\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/07\/Edit.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Wiki supports rich editing capabilities using markdown \u00a0. Now you can use <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Markdown\"><u>markdown<\/u><\/a> to add rich formatting, tables, and images. Learn more about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualstudio.com\/en-us\/docs\/reference\/markdown-guidance\"><u>syntax guidance for Markdown files<\/u><\/a>. You can use the formatting pane in the Wiki to write wiki pages in Markdown.<\/p>\n<h2><a><\/a>This looks exciting. Let\u2019s create some more pages and organize them.<\/h2>\n<p>You can click <strong>+<\/strong> <strong>New page<\/strong> to create additional Wiki pages. Alternatively, you can click <strong>+<\/strong> <strong>Add sub-page<\/strong>\u00a0in the context menu of a page to add sub-pages.<\/p>\n<p>After creating several pages in Wiki, you may find it helpful to categorize and order the pages. The tree view in the Wiki supports a rich navigation experience that displays the default page hierarchy. To categorize similar pages, you can simply drag-and-drop pages in the tree to reorder pages order and change the hierarchy.<\/p>\n<p>You can make a page a sub-page of another by simply dragging the page onto another page.<\/p>\n<p>You can also make a page a sibling of another by dragging the page between 2 pages.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"380\" height=\"668\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-34035\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/07\/Untitled.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In case you wish to change the Wiki home page, simply click <strong>Set as wiki homepage<\/strong> on a page\u2019s context menu.<\/p>\n<p>Your Wiki can soon grow to have hundreds and thousands of pages. To simplify the process of finding a page, you can simply filter the pages by title in the tree view.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"207\" height=\"171\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33955\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/07\/Filter.png\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><a><\/a>Who changed my wiki page?<\/h2>\n<p>As multiple users can contribute to the Wiki, validating the revisions made to a page may be of interest. You can see the revisions for a page by clicking <strong>View revisions<\/strong> in the context menu of a page\u00a0. The revisions page shows the author, revision message, and last updated time for a revision.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"243\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33967\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/07\/REvisions.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can click any of the revisions to view the details and changes that were made in within a diff view.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"336\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33975\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/devblogs.microsoft.com\/devops\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2017\/07\/RevDetails.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can refer to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visualstudio.com\/en-us\/docs\/collaborate\/add-edit-wiki#create-your-wiki-and-first-wiki-page\">this page <\/a>to read about how a git repository powers VSTS Wiki, the security model of Wiki, stakeholder access and how can you update Wiki pages offline etc.<\/p>\n<h2>Existing wiki extension users<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/marketplace.visualstudio.com\/items?itemName=ms-devlabs.wiki\">Wiki extension on the marketplace<\/a> has been deprecated now and is no more available for installation.<\/p>\n<p>If you are an existing Wiki extension user, then you can migrate your wiki pages to the new wiki using an <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Microsoft\/vsts-wikiTools\">this migration tool<\/a>\u00a0. <a href=\"https:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?linkid=852448\">Learn more<\/a>\u00a0about how to migrate your existing wiki pages to the new VSTS Wiki.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both Wiki extension and the new VSTS Wiki can co-exist on the same VSTS project.
