In this study, the relationships between teacher candidates' critical thinking and lifelong learning dispositions and global citizenship competency perceptions were examined. 508 teacher candidates attending pedagogical formation courses in two state universities participated in the research. “California Critical Thinking Disposition Scale”, “Lifelong Learning Tendency Scale” and “Global Citizenship Competency Perception Scale” were used as data collection tools. In this study, a multi-factor predictive correlational design was used to examine the structural relationships between pre-service teachers' critical thinking and lifelong learning dispositions and their perceptions of global citizenship competency. For this purpose, confirmatory factor analysis, descriptive statistics and correlation statistics were used. As a result of the research, moderate and low level significant relationships were found between critical thinking, lifelong learning and global citizenship. According to the final result of the research, the effects of lifelong learning tendencies and global citizenship perception on critical thinking dispositions were revealed in line with the views of teacher candidates.
The purpose of this research is to examine the process of education in Hakkari throughout history. In
this context, research approaches to processes of pre-school education, primary education, middle
school education, vocational and technical training, and higher education through the republican
history and their present situation. A historical descriptive method was used in the study. Data
concerning Hakkari’s demography and education was conducted through TÜİK. 1923, the year was
taken as the base year and was supported with the data of the process until today.
According to National Education Statistics, Hakkari almost has had just the name of the education
organization for many years. In the Hakkari province, the first primary school was opened in 1925,
the first secondary school in 1945, and the first high school in 1957. Until the opening of boarding
schools in 1965, the dispersed settlement of the villages prevented the students from going to
school, especially in the long winter months the difficult terrain, lack of transportation, and teacher
and school deficiencies made education difficult. The lack of schools, experienced teachers, and
sufficient interest in education by the population due to the socio-economic and socio-cultural
structure of the region have also been the main obstacles to education in Hakkari. This situation,
seen in the early years of the Republican period, began to disappear relatively with the opening
of the first high school in 1957 and the opening of secondary education institutions in the districts
after 1965. However, many steps taken in the name of education have since progressed very slowly
in Hakkari. The fact that the region was heavily influenced by terrorism in the 1990s is undoubtedly
the most fundamental factor of the recent education problems.
The purpose of this research is to provide the perceptions and evaluations of primary school teachers who studied in two-year educational institutes between the 1974-1975 and 1981-1982 academic years. This research is based on a screening model in which an existing situation is described as it is. The semi-structured “Interview Form for Primary School Teacher Training Institutions” form developed by the researchers was used to obtain the data of the research conducted by qualitative research method. The study group of the research was composed of primary school teachers who graduated from educational institutes living in Izmir. According to the results, the graduates of the educational institutes generally evaluated the teaching staff in the institutes they graduated positively, but they also stated that these schools were very negatively affected by the political developments of the period. Schools were found to be more positive in terms of building and equipment compared to other schools. Students were found to have lower income levels and found to be children from rural families in general.
