The system we develop, captures live video from two cameras, meaning left and right, simultaneously and obtains the difference of the successive frames. Then, it converts the difference frame into a binary image using image processing techniques and calculates the center of mass of this binary image. The distance information is calculated using stereo analysis and the difference information between mass centers of left and right frames. The speed of the moving object between t1 and t2 is calculated using the difference of calculated distance datas and Deltat=t2 -t1. The system performance is calculated as minimum 95%

Although it was conducted on a limited number of subjects, our study shows that the BIS values corresponded well to sleep depth, decreasing in accordance with sleep stages. Furthermore awakenings followed an immediate increase in BIS values. BIS performed sensitively in reflecting the transitions from one set of stimuli to another. Overall BIS correlation with sleep scores in the non-REM period of (approximately 1.5 h) was found to be r = 0.717 (Spearman analysis, r 2 = 0.514). In the light of the preliminary results from this present study, accompanying the traditional scoring, BIS (or BISlike) tools seem to be reliable for multi-methodological and complex study designs, which can further be applied to psychophysiology of normal human brain under different conscious states.
