This paper presents the views of undergraduate students on taking part in a small-scale student-s... more This paper presents the views of undergraduate students on taking part in a small-scale student-staff research project to inform the design of a local community play space. The project repositioned students as researchers by providing them with an opportunity to engage in primary research with children through an authentic assessment task in a final year module. The students took on responsibility for the design and implementation of the primary research to elicit the views of young children aged 6-7 years, alongside Higher Education (HE) lecturers who collected the views of other key users of the space. The students experienced the project as engaging, challenging and as an opportunity for individual professional development, resulting in valuable learning including, increased confidence, professional aptitudes, and applied research skills. While finding much potential in co- research projects for student engagement, we recognise barriers within the higher education curriculum that mitigate against their success as part of assessment. The reconceptualization of HE within a market economy and the changing expectations of students further limit the success of such projects.N/

Questionnaires were distributed to those agencies which had referred parents onto the parenting programme Sample size = Nine 1.1. What effect did the parenting programme have on the parent / carer? Referring agencies were asked to quantify the effect the parenting programme has had on four specific outcomes for the parent/carer, by stating whether each outcome had undergone "…a huge improvement, much Improvement, little improvement, no change or a backward step". Self-confidence and self-esteem. All nine identified there had been much improvement. The quality of the relationship with their teenager All nine identified an improvement, with four recognising much improvement and five a little improvement. How well they respond to their teenagers' behaviour All nine identified an improvement, with five recognising much improvement and four a little improvement. The effectiveness of their parenting style All nine identified an improvement, with six recognising much improvement and three a little improvement.

We investigate the impacts of interaction between dark matter and dark energy in the context of t... more We investigate the impacts of interaction between dark matter and dark energy in the context of two dark energy models, holographic and ghost dark energy. In fact, using the dynamical system analysis, we obtain the cosmological consequence of several interactions, considering all relevant component of universe, i.e. matter (Dark and luminous), radiation and dark energy. Studying the phase space for all interactions in detail, we show the existence of unstable matter dominated and stable dark energy dominated phases. We also show that linear interactions suffer from the absence of standard radiation dominated epoch. Interestingly, this failure resolved by adding the non-linear interactions to the models. We find an upper bound for the value of the coupling constant of the interaction between dark matter and dark energy as b < 0.57 in the case of holographic model, and b < 0.61 in the case of ghost dark energy model, to result in a cosmological viable matter dominated epoch. More specifically, this bound is vital to satisfy instability and deceleration of matter dominated epoch.

This project collected the views of young children on play provision within two local parks throu... more This project collected the views of young children on play provision within two local parks through research conducted by Early Childhood Studies students and academics. Findings identified that traditional playground equipment and ‘risky’ play were important for children. Natural features and semi-permanent provision were valued, alongside the provision of mixed-age fixed equipment. Children were highly aware of health and safety, and they were very risk averse. Conclusions recognised constraints and limitations of collaborative working, including eliciting authentic voices of children.
