I've read various fics where Iruka reacts really badly to unrequited love and/or being betrayed by Kakashi. He starts drinking heavily, he self-injures, and he sometimes ends up dead. Writing and reading these fics can be cathartic ("those meanies will be sorry for hurting me *now*"), but I don't find it particularly IC for Iruka.

Onto my request: How does Iruka deal with heartbreak?

Day 29: One song that gives you the creeps.

Akira Yamaoka has come up with some of the creepiest, most awesome music for one of the best survival horror games out there - at least in its heyday. Some of the music from Silent Hill is both beautiful and spine tingling. A dose of Pyramid Head anyone?

Akira's music for the series always made me feel while playing "Oh yes, it's over! It's over!" But then there'd be a note, a noise, a chord (especially in Ashes and Ghosts and Hear Nothing) where it made my eyes search the screen and my mind darkly admit

Day 28 - One song that needs to never be played again.

I actually have quite a few candidates for this one but all I'm really going to say - and NO disrespect at all to anyone who likes the artist I'm about to mention - but any song coming from Kesha needs to never be played again. I almost despise her as much as Katy Perry - but out of the two, Katy is the lesser of the evils and I would rather listen to her than Kesha.

Also this song Friday that everyone was talking about. I had to see for myself and ... wow that was an absolutely terrible song - but I don't blame the girl singing it though, it's not like she wrote it and thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. All of the spoofs and parodies it has spawned is amazing, but I find that THIS is the only acceptable version of it:

Day 27: One song in your mp3 folder you're pretty sure no one else has. That's a bold claim there. My friends also enjoy a wide variety of music so I'm not sure. So I'll just name one that's kind of offhand: Essence by Lucinda Williams



I love the overall feel of the song. From her gritty, sexy lyrics (I mean the opening line is "Baby, sweet baby - you're my drug. Come on and let me taste your stuff" and I love the line "Kiss me hard, make me wonder who's in charge") to her voice and the guitar licks.

*Woo for a second I thought I wouldn't be able to find an album version of this song, but behold! Here it is. At first I had a live video of it, but they bleeped it out when she says fuck - the one and only time she does- and I get censorship and all but I think it takes away from the song. So yay for unedited versions! :)

Day 26: Your favorite music video.

My favorite video isn't really a real released as a music video ... er, video. It's taken from The Last Live. The Last Live was the final show that X Japan ever did together, on December 31, 1997 (Of course knowing about Japanese culture and what the end of a year and the beginning of a new one means, their performance on this date was truly remarkable. The end of X Japan, the beginning of a new year, a clean slate...)

Toshi's voice ... the emotion that the concert itself held .. the talent and pain and love there ... it's just ... I can't explain it properly.

Although Toshi left X before The Last Live (and gods it was so tempting to use The Last Song from The Last Live because Yoshiki wrote it after Toshi left the band and I felt it was a more personal one of their songs), he still came back and performed a last time (even though Yoshiki once thought about not having him there at all) as they felt they owed it to their fans. Of course, any other X fans know that after they disbanded, there were plans of forming a sort of "Second X" as Yoshiki had said. He and Hide were looking for a new singer before Hide's suicide.

Of course, now X has been reborn in a sense and even had a song in one of the Saw films. But to me, nothing compares to the classic days of X. Of course back then I didn't really understanding the meaning behind some of their songs. In 1997, I was only 13 - but still to this day I listen to their masterpieces and feel moved within, with each chord played and each wail of Toshi's voice... Even after all these years their songs still remain in my heart for many different reasons.

So far ... For some reason I really like Chris Brown's new song. It's probably because it has Lil Wayne in it and Busta has still got it
