Amid modern transportation systems, traffic quality has been relied on exchanging massive amounts of up-to-date information about their physical position and status with traffic management centers; this yields whatβs called the βdata disseminationβ problem. This type of phenomenon allows data propagation in a collaboratively and efficient manner to boost realtime performance. However, it brings several limitations in bandwidth usage and power consumption resulting in the premature end of network lifetime, as well as continuous break in path connection leading to lack of communication reliability and increasing packet loss probability. As a result, adjusting the rate of data dissemination over the network has become inescapable. The main objective of this study is to present a vehicle system design met...

Augmenting the peer-to-peer model to the services of the Grid promises to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure greater scalability, availability, and fault-tolerance. The Grid Information Service (GIS) directly influences quality of service for grid platforms. Most of the proposed solutions for decentralizing the GIS are based on completely flat overlays. The main contributions for this paper are: the investigation of a novel resource discovery framework for Grid implementations based on a hierarchy of structured peer-to-peer overlay networks, and introducing a discovery algorithm utilizing the proposed framework. Validation of the framework-s performance is done via simulation. Experimental results show that the proposed organization has the advantage of being scalable while p...

Many questions have been raised about the ownership, sustainability, and social and economic implications of CWNs. To address these concerns, we propose a conceptual framework that describes the role of social capital in the creation of CWNs. This framework takes into account a number of collective actions and cooperative activities that contribute to the development of CWNs. These actions and cooperative activities include donating money and hardware, volunteering manpower and technical skills, developing open source software for the network, and sharing wireless nodes with peers. We used the collective actions and cooperation construct of the social capital concept to attribute these types of community contributions. We collected data via a survey to support the proposed framework. The primary implication for practitioners is that mobilizing embedded resources in communities can build a common wireless infrastructure for their digital needs. This study is an important step towards advancing this topic as an intellectual stream.

However, few algorithms simulate human strategies for solving MOT. Therefore, devising a method that simulates human activity in vision has become a good choice for improving MOT results, especially occlusion. Eight brain strategies have been studied from a cognitive perspective and imitated to build a novel algorithm. Two of these strategies gave our algorithm novel and outstanding results, rescuing saccades and stimulus attributes. First, rescue saccades were imitated by detecting the occlusion state in each frame, representing the critical situation that the human brain saccades toward. Then, stimulus attributes were mimicked by using semantic attributes to reidentify the person in these occlusion states. Our algorithm favourably performs on the MOT17 dataset compared to state-of-the-art trackers. In addition, we created a new dataset of 40,00...

This led to opportunities to develop fascinating applications supported by analysis of different sports especially football. Identifying the ball in soccer images is an essential task for not only goal scoring but also players' evaluation. However, soccer ball detection suffers from several hurdles such as; occlusions, fast moving objects, shadows, poor lighting, color contrast, and other static background objects. Although several ball detection techniques have been introduced such as; Frame Difference, Mixture of Gaussian (MoG), Optical Flow and etc., ball detection in soccer games is still an open research area. In this paper, a new Fuzzy Based Ball Detection (FB 2 D) strategy is proposed for identifying the ball through a set of image sequences extracted form a soccer match video. FB 2 D has the ability to accurately identify the ball even if it is attached to the white lines drawn on the playground or partially occluded behind players. FB 2 D has been compared to recent ball detection techniques. Experimental results have shown that FB 2 D outperforms recent detection techniques as it introduced the maximum accuracy and the accuracy of detection in the testing stage is close to 100%. As well as the minimum error.

Consequently, a tremendous increase in energy consumption has arisen in conjunction with its results, including a remarkable rise in costs of operating and cooling servers. Besides, increasing energy consumption has a significant impact on the environment due to emissions of carbon dioxide. Dynamic consolidation of Virtual Machines (VMs) into the minimal number of Physical Machines (PMs) is considered as one of the magic solutions to manage power consumption. The virtual machine placement problem is a critical issue for good VM consolidation. This paper proposes a Power-Aware technique depending on Particle Swarm Optimization (PAPSO) to determine the near-optimal placement for the migrated VMs. A discrete version of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is adopted based on a decimal encoding to map the migrated VMs to the best appropriate PMs. Furthermore, an effective minimization fitness function is employed to reduce power consumption without violating the Service Level Agreement (SLA). Specifically, PAPSO consolidates the migrated VMs into the minimum number of PMs with a major constraint to decrease the number of overloaded hosts as much as possible. Therefore, the number of VM migrations can be reduced drastically by taking into consideration the main sources for VM migrations; overloaded hosts and underloaded ones. PAPSO is implemented in CloudSim and the experimental results on random workloads with different sizes of VMs and PMs show that PAPSO does not violate SLA and outperforms the Power-Aware Best Fit Decreasing algorithm (PABFD). It can reduce about 8.01%, 39.65%, 66.33%, and 11.87% on average in terms of consumed energy, number of VM migrations, number of host shutdowns and the combined metric Energy SLA Violation (ESV), respectively.

As a part of the successful quality of service (QoS) scenario, providing software development in a service-based conceptual style for the business companies has become a vital issue. However, this would require more hardware resources, which increase cost and complexity. The main objective of this study is to introduce a new performance-oriented integration design (POID) framework with five middleware algorithms to reliably achieve SOA constraints. The POID framework is proposed to provide two features: (i) acting as a decision support system (DSS) to guide the software architects and designers to build software architectures with better QoS attributes in terms of the scalability and end-to-end performance, and (ii) achieving high accuracy in recommending the best composite services in the simple and complex SOA integration contexts. A set of case studies based on real experiments are conducted in a telecom environment are demonstrated. The experimental results prove that the POID framework achieves better accuracy (97%-98%), average availability (92.18%-97.89%), and enhances the average response time by 17%. It offers an effective way to build high-performance or high-throughput computing systems, allowing users to efficiently access and integrate geographically distributed computers, data, and applications. Searching and locating the resource which match the user's requirements in an efficient and timely manner is the important phase in grid computing which called resource discovery. Discovering resources in grid environment is complex due to the heterogeneous nature, dynamic availability of resources, resources are owned by different individuals and organizations and each having their own resource management policies i.e. different access and cost models. There are many different approaches in literature for solving this problem (e.g. Centralized-based, Hierarchical-based, Agentbased and P2P-based). This paper provides a survey and analysis on ongoing researches as well as evaluation summery of those approaches on this specific area. We believe that this survey would be useful for academic and industry based researchers who are engaged in the design of scalable computational Grid.

By observing a variety of drawing characteristics of 92 participants with a mean age of 67.7, art therapy and dementia experts discriminate HC from MCI, early dementia of the Alzheimer-type (eDAT), and moderate dementia of the Alzheimer-type (mDAT) by the process analysis of tree drawings on a digitizing tablet. The art therapist's average categorical rating of healthy and MCI or demented individuals matched the clinical diagnosis by 88%. In a first small study, we analyzed interrater reliability, sensitivity, specificity, negative and positive predicted values of our tree drawing test (TDT) in comparison with the clock drawing test (CDT). Similar values of moderate interrater reliability were found for the TDT (0.56) as well as for the CDT (0.54). A significant high...

Search engines play an important role in retrieving the required information for users. Ranking algorithms are an important step in search engines so that the user could retrieve the pages most relevant to his query. In this work, we present a method for utilizing genealogical information from ontology to find the suitable hierarchical concepts for query extension, and ranking web pages based on semantic relations of the hierarchical concepts related to query terms, taking into consideration the hierarchical relations of domain searched (sibling, synonyms and hyponyms) by different weighting based on AHP method. So, it provides an accurate solution for ranking documents when compared to the three common methods.

S... more Social networks have become a new trend for research among computer scientist around the world. Social network had an impact on users' way of life. One of social network usages is recommendation systems. The need of recommendation systems is arising when users try to know best choice for them in many items types (books, experts, locations, technologies...etc). The problem is that a single person can't try all alternatives in all possibles life goals to compare. Thus, a person has to use his friends' expertise to select better option in any item category. This process is the main idea of βRecommendation Systemsβ. Recommendation systems usually depend on users-to-items ratings in a network (graph). Two main challenges for recommendation systems are accuracy of recommendation and computation size. The main objective of this paper is to introduce a suggested technique for transitive recommendation system based on users' collaborative ratings, and also to balance loading ...

Several protocols have been developed to address multi path routing, but it always has a problem that the discovered paths may be not 100% disjoint and sending data is done in only one path until it's broken; the discovery of multiple paths also generates more overhead on the network. Load Balancing Parallel Routing Protocol [LBPRP] tried to solve previous multi path problems, distributing traffic among multiple paths) sending data in parallel form as it uses all paths in the same time. We employed a simple test scenario to be sure of proposed model efficiency and to validate the proposed Load Balancing Parallel Routing Protocol. [LBPRP] will achieve load balancing in sending data, decreasing the end-to-end delay and increasing the packet delivery ratio and throughput, thus the performance of multi-path routing protocols can be improved consequently.

The loss of some nodes may cause significant topological changes, undermine the network operation, and affect the lifetime of the network. This paper discusses the energy consumption problem and summaries the existing power saving techniques in ad-hoc wireless networks. The main objective of this paper is to introduce a new power aware multi-path node disjoint routing scheme based on the Dynamic Source Routing protocol (DSR), which can prolong MANETs lifetime, reduce routing delay and increase the reliability of the packets reaching its destination. Therefore, a comprehensive study of DSR protocol has been drawn using NS-2 simulator, to evaluate the performance of DSR as a routing strategy and investigate its efficiency in saving wireless networks resources, as a prelude to avoid its perfo...

Internet QoS provisioning gives rise to several challenging issues. This paper introduces a generic distributed QoS adaptive routing engine (DQARE) architecture based on OSPFxQoS. The innovation of the proposed work in this paper is its undependability on the used QoS architectures and, moreover, splitting of the control strategy from data forwarding mechanisms, so we guarantee a set of absolute stable mechanisms on top of which Internet QoS can be built. DQARE architecture is furnished with three relevant traffic control schemes, namely, service differentiation, QoS routing, and traffic engineering. The main objective of this paper is to (i) provide a general configuration guideline for service differentiation, (ii) formalize the theoretical properties of different QoS routing algorithms and then introduce a QoS routing algorithm...

Feasibility of the proposed method is done via real time system. Experimental results show that implementing the proposed fuzzy matchmaking based scheduling mechanism maximized the resource utilization of executing workers without exceeding the maximum execution time of the task. It is concluded that the efficiency of FMA-based decentralized scheduling, in the case of parallel execution, is reduced by increasing the number of subtasks.
