How it works
Automate docs in a few clicks
Get started with DeepDocs in minutes with 3 quick steps

1. Install DeepDocs
Install it in on your repos containing source code and docs. If docs are in a separate repo, install it there too.
2. Specify path to docs
In the main branch, place a deepdocs.yml file at the root of your source code repo. This yml should specify the GitHub URLs of the docs repo or the docs files

3. Create a PR
Make a code change and open a Pull Request. DeepDocs will update the relevant docs in a new commit and add it to the same PR. If your docs are in a separate repo, it will open a PR there instead.

Joined the wait-list. This is something I’d really want. I’m a bit skeptical of good results for end users docs though

Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We’ve got answers.
What does DeepDocs actually do?
DeepDocs is a GitHub app that uses AI to automatically update your documentation—such as READMEs, API references, and SDK guides—whenever a pull request is opened. It ensures your docs reflect the latest code without requiring manual effort.
Does DeepDocs create documentation from scratch?
No. DeepDocs is designed to maintain and update existing documentation, not generate it from scratch. If you’re starting from zero, tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or other LLM-based editors can help draft the initial version. Once your docs are in place, DeepDocs keeps them in sync with your codebase—automatically updating them with every PR.
How do I set up DeepDocs in my repository?
- Install DeepDocs in your source code repo (and in your docs repo if separate).
- Add a deepdocs.yml file to the root of your main branch.
- Choose either target_repo or target_files to define what gets updated.
- Open a pull request—DeepDocs will handle the rest.
What’s the difference between target_repo and target_files?
- Use
target_repoto let DeepDocs decide which files to update in a folder or repo. - Use
target_filesto specify up to 5 individual files for precise control.
How does DeepDocs handle updates in pull requests?
- If your docs are in the same repo, DeepDocs updates the docs by adding a new commit to the same PR.
- If your docs are in a different repo, DeepDocs creates a branch, and opens a new PR there.
Will DeepDocs modify my documentation structure or style?
No. DeepDocs intelligently updates only the relevant portions of your documentation. It preserves your existing format and avoids rewriting files from scratch.
How are credits consumed in DeepDocs?
- 1 credit is used per doc update, regardless of how many code changes were made.
- If no update is needed, 0.5 credits are used for analysis of code changes
