If you were reincarnated as an animal, which would you choose to be in your next life, and why?

This one's easy.

A cat. I could sleep whenever I wanted, have someone feed me and clean up after me and all I would have to do is cuddle and purr and generally be adorable and adored.

Where do I sign up?

The State of Me

In point form, since I'll be inevitably interrupted and lose my train of thought.

1) Halloween was awesome. We went to a party on Saturday night in costume (I was Steve Irwin, complete with a stuffed crocodile) and had a lot of fun. John was playing and there were wings. Yay Wingporium! Sunday was our 'drive in at home' day, where we watched the original Dracula with Bela Legosi and then Bram Stoker's Dracula with the surround sound, and ate drive in food like hot dogs and popcorn and nachos, and then went down to 17 Steps to meet up with the roomie's dad and step-mum.

2) On Sunday we got our first snow. It wasn't much more than a few flakes coming down for a minute or two and they soon melted away, but it was snow! Accordingly, the weather has gotten a lot colder in a hurry.

3) Work has been busy. You might have seen my rant the other day about the high density filing, a project I wasn't even supposed to be in charge of, but now I am due to co-worker incompetence. *sigh* There's that, plus the news yesterday that one of my lawyers, A., is very ill at the moment, so I'm trying to make arrangements to cover his cases for the near future and deal with the investigators who have started flailing around like Chicken Little. *wry*

4) Back to therapy last night. I seem to have gotten out of practice, although I've been incorporating a lot of the lessons learned over the past year so the absence wasn't actually too bad.

5) Also back to writing. I'm using the nano_wrimo to catch up on 52 Pick Up. By the end of November I'll have 41 of the 52 stories I'm aiming at, so it's a very good way of making up lost time! Last night's effort was rather fun, written largely on my iPhone on the Notes function. Not as difficult as I thought it might be, except capitalising after quotations.

6) Not so much back to swimming. Over the past few months I've had the flu, bronchitis, the flu again and then a sinus infection. It's kept me out of the pool, since swimming with a stuffed up head is not a smart move. I'm aiming at this weekend, or if that fails, next Monday. I've been having sinus issues again and feeling like crap, so hopefully I don't have another infection. :P

7) The cats continue to be equal parts crazy and cute. Spike is huge - he's putting on his winter weight. They both sleep on my bed and keep my feet warm. Neither is particularly fond of my crocodile/alligator.

8) Christmas! My plans are fairly basic at the moment. Christmas Eve party at Sandy's, Christmas morning recovering and perhaps going to see a movie or something, then Boxing Day at the roomie's parents' open house. We're having the Toronto Christmas Do about a week before, since there's a lot of travelling happening.

Gift ideas for me, if you're wondering: gift vouchers for clothes and shoes; my Amazon wishlist; my other Amazon wishlist (with extras); LJ icon space and paid time; completion of Wiki page updates.

A glimpse of the sort of day I'm having...
passive aggressive fork!
deathpixie
It's ten to two and I'm only just getting lunch. Bry left the oven on last night so the apartment was full of smoke this morning and my eyes are itchy still, I got in at 8:30 a.m. this morning so Jane's stuff could be dealt with, I have to redo Jane's expenses as Sonia forgot to pass on the new submission spreadsheet, a matter we were hoping to adjourn since Alvin is on vacation has a cranky JP that wants to have the sentencing today and I have no lawyer to send to oversee things, and I desperately need to contact Newmarket Appeals Court to confirm some dates, but their phones haven't been working the last two days and no-one will give me any other form of contact, like, you now, this new fangled device called email.

So yeah, not everything has been running smoothly. *wry* Tonight I go home, launder my bedding to remove excess cat hair and smoke smell, as well as wash a batch of clothes so I have something to wear to work the rest of the week and next week, FURminate said cats (ferox was brilliant and found a cheap one online which has been brilliant so far) and get cat food and kitty litter and conditioner for me.

Oh, speaking of hair and removal, Johnny has had a hair cat. He looks almost respectable now.;) (photo to follow when I get home and can access Facebook)

Also, the cats have proven their hunting might once again last night, with a full-size mouse this time. Ah, spring. And even better, they left it on my floor, not in my bed. Yay!

I had to bring Alvin some documents over to Old City Hall court and I wound up staying for the hearing of the motion. Talk about deja vu - Canadian Provincial Offences Courts are really not that different to Magistrates' Courts in Victoria. The main differences being the wearing of robes (I'm kind of glad I didn't have to do that!) and the lack of our handy computer system that would allow magistrates to make their orders on the screen and then allow the clerk to print them - none of this pesky photocopying of endorsements. But yeah, I have to admit to feeling the vibe again - I used to enjoy being a court clerk, provided you kept me out of civil and traffic court. And paid me better.

I'm hanging out for the end of the day now. Despite my best efforts at getting a reasonable night's sleep last night, I didn't, so I'm tired and a bit meh. Sleep deprivation always makes my mood drop, and I had a tough counselling session too. However, I only have an hour to go and then I can head home and maybe nap for a bit before embarking on kitty bathing/claw trimming.

question your reality
deathpixie
I seem to have picked up something weird. Sort of a flu, except that it's largely a hacking cough and extreme tiredness rather than anything else, plus fever dreams, whee - I was in bed asleep for most of yesterday and last night and when I wasn't sleeping, I was kind of brain dead and unable to talk louder than table conversation. It doesn't hurt to swallow or breathe, exactly, but it's like there's a weight on my chest making it hard. Even when Angel isn't sitting on me. I'm also sort of wheezy, which means I've been using the inhaler a lot.

I'll see how tomorrow goes. If I'm still like this, I'll go to the doctor, mostly because with the H1N1 around, I'm a little paranoid - Jacob's son has had it at the very least, so I have been exposed. Besides, this is getting ridiculous and I'm tired of being the plague vector everyone avoids.

Oh, also? Parentals, the box arrived safe and sound. :) I haven't opened it yet since it's a Christmas thing, and Angel has claimed it as his New Perching Place.

Self-fulfilling prophecy

Guess what I found on my bed when I got home yesterday? If you guessed a headless, bleeding mouse carcass, you'd be right!

And, of course, I'd just washed all my bedding on Sunday. Bah.

1) You start seeing your breath fogging;

2) The duvet becomes something you want on you in bed, not something you kick over to the side;

3) The cats start catching mice coming in. Just retrieved the second in four days. Say what you will about cats, it's handy when they catch small furry rodents and kill them.

A lovely long weekend, full of delicious food, wonderful friends and lots of talking. Now I'm curled up on the couch in my pyjamas with a blanket over my lap, watching The West Wing season one and catching up on things. And drugging my cats on catnip, as a reward for my Mighty Hunters. :)

Something for the locals...
road

So one of the people I work with, her brother has a problem. His daughter (my co-worker's niece) loves animals and has managed to accrue seven cats. Now the council is after them to get rid of some in order to comply with local laws regarding the number of pets, and the Humane Society can't take them because they're overloaded. Five very healthy, pretty cats are looking at being put down.

I've already posted to toronto, but if you know of anyone wanting a cat, or places to advertise for people wanting a cat, can you spread the word? I can't take any 'cause I already have the two.

***

CATS FREE TO A GOOD HOME.

Due to the City of Mississauga's rule regarding the number of pets you're allowed to own, there are five cats in desperate need of homes, as soon as possible. The Humane Society can't take them - with the economic downturn, they're swamped with abandoned pets and have said they'd have to put the cats down if they were left there - and the council has said if they get their hands on them, they'll put the cats down themselves. Considering they currently belong to a young girl who adores animals, we'd really like to avoid that.

All five are healthy, friendly and house-trained. They're indoor-outdoor cats, but young enough to be trained to live indoors. Unfortunately they haven't had their shots or been neutered yet, but they are extremely healthy and play well with others. There are four males - Bono (7 months), Lenny (11 months), Oreo (11 months), Panther (20 months) - and one female - Betty (7 months). Delivery is possible.

The mighty hunter returns!
road
deathpixie
Yep, the cats got themselves another mouse. Hopefully the last one, since yeah, not fond of rodents. This one was lurking under the fridge - both of them were obsessed with it all night while we had our dinner guest over - and at some point during the night while we were having publy night caps, the mouse made the fatal mistake of leaving its sanctuary.

Yep, fatal - I found a rather dead mouse in the bathroom. Fortunately not my bed, for which I am grateful, or the couch. I'm guessing it was Spike, since he was the hunter last time, but it could have been either of them. Regardless, they both got praise and the prize was wrapped in toilet paper and disposed of.

Kind of them to use the bathroom, tho'. Nice and easy to clean.

In other news, came into work almost 2 hours late due to an alarm malfunction - I woke up at 10, got in by 10:50. So it's working through lunch for me, whee. :P

Fun and games
road
deathpixie
Last night marked a rite of passage for my cat ownership - their first mouse. And no, not the toy one that Spike's obsessed with, a real, live, furry mouse. With the issues with the roomie's leaking ceiling and the large gaping hole (that was finally fixed yesterday, yay!), it seems the local building rodents decided to try their luck in our apartment.

Bad move.

Roomie and I were sitting on the couch when the cats started growling and tearing around. Dex eventually got up and went to see what the issue was, followed by a loud swear word and Spike fleeing down the hall and behind the couch, something in his mouth. His toy mouse, I thought, and then I realised the bell on its tail wasn't jingling. Dex then reappeared with the news that Spike had himself a mouse. I got up to find Spike crouched behind the couch, mouse in mouth, twitching feebly. Yay.

Grabbing cat by the scruff and mouse by the tail, I separated the two and tossed the mouse outside via the back door (in my pyjamas!). And that was my excitement for the evening.

Fever broke properly last night - I feel much better, albeit exhausted. Another day off today to sleep off the last of the virus, and then back to work tomorrow before everything goes to hell. Although I could have done without the chainsaw in the parking lot outside my window this morning. *wry*

deathpixie
Yep, it's that time again. And given that work's cutting down on the 'Net time, I'm going to be particularly absent over the next few days, as our apartment fills with people and I spend my weekend being social. Parentals, I got your call but I'll have to return it weekend after next - things are going to be a bit crazy. ;)

At least I got the cleaning done - thanks to the loan of ferox's vacuum cleaner, the couch is actually back to dark green with the removal of another cat's worth of hair. *wry* Said moggies are also ready, as I trimmed their claws last night, much to their displeasure. Angel got his revenge this morning by throwing up in the hallway, just as I was heading out the door to go to work, the brat.

Ah, Dexcon. The time that reminds me just how much I love you crazy people out there. :) Which is especially needed some times more than others. *wry*

Now if I can only sort out what the hell I'm wearing to the formal. I kinda forgot to do that part...

Edit: And as is traditional, I ran out of minutes on my phone a day or two before I needed it. *wry* Fixed now.

deathpixie
Gotta love going to bed at 11:00 p.m., sleeping until 2:30 a.m., waking up and then not being able to get to sleep again until around 4:00 a.m. because of a paranoia attack, sleeping lightly, then having to get up at 7:45 a.m.

*sighs* I miss the old days, where insomnia was something other people got.

Thanks to those who advised on the kit situation. As vehement my anger was last night, they not only survived, they spent the second part of the night, the insomnia bit, curled up with me on the bed without further incident. So fingers crossed it's behavioural, and not a UTI. I've got my door closed today and I'll pick up some of the de-odouring stuff (I washed everything and couldn't smell anything, but I'm repeatedly told washing isn't enough) on the way home from work today. If there's further accidents today, I'll call the vet, although knowing which one it was would help. *wry*

Now for Alvin to come in, given me a shitload of work in the last hour before I go home, and my day is set.

DEATH
pissed off, grr, hand
deathpixie
So, I come home, already half an hour late because of Acts of Alvin - four tapes, all this afternoon, including a motion and accompanying affidavit. I have to wash my bedding, because it reeks of cat pee. What do I find? A nice fresh patch of cat pee on the bed.

Fucking like bastards.

Noses were literally rubbed in it (mum's trick from housetraining cats), but if anyone has hints on why nine month old neutered cats would suddenly start peeing on things, and how to stop it, I'm all ears. Because if this keeps up, they're going to the Humane Society, I swear.

I can has sleep now?
so very tired
deathpixie
So tired this morning. Due in part to Mischief and Trouble, otherwise known as the kits, in part to my subconscious taking a mallet to my dreams.

Somehow Spike got shut up in Dex's room when he went to bed, which meant Angel had a freakout at me at some ungodly hour once he noticed his brother was missing - came to me, yowling his head off, nudged me continuously until I got up... Fortunately, Dex had enough hassles with Spike doing panicked laps of his room and also got up at the same time to let him out, whereby the fuzzbutts left me mostly alone for the rest of the night.

Dream-wise... blargh. I was somewhere, probably a party of some kind. Everyone around me was with someone, being all couple-y, and I would up snogging some guy who a) tasted really awful and b) couldn't kiss at all, because I was feeling so blah. Yes, subconscious, we're aware of Bad Kissing Choices made when feeling unattractive and alone - we've been there and done that, remember? No need to hammer the point home, I get it.

Support staff Christmas breakfast this morning, which I'd completely forgotten about and thus was late, since I stopped at the post office to mail my brother and Eva's Christmas presents. Yes, late, I know. I had to wait for payday to actually buy gifts this year. But yeah, got a free brekkie, which I actually could eat thanks to a Zantac taken hurriedly as I got in - Fred's been playing up again, to the point I'm getting pretty major nausea of a morning again. Time to go back to the doctor, since actually retching on the way to work? Not fun. I'm just hoping it's not my new vitamin cocktail aggravating things. I probably won't be able to get an appointment until after the holidays, unfortunately, so I'll lay in the Zantac and start taking it of a morning before the nausea hits.

Thanks, Matt

Back home, and the kits have survived. Pretty well, actually - they're a little uncomfortable, and Angel was making cranky noises earlier and they both hated the trip home on the subway, but now they're settling back in. Spike's getting in Dex's way as he sets up his xBox 360, and Angel's alternating between cuddling up under my arm and wandering back to the food bowl.

No stitches and things should be healed up in a few days. Hopefully it means less insanity and random destruction, and definitely no spraying.

Weekend round up
road
deathpixie
Busy weekend...

Friday: Jays game with the roomie. We won 5-4, and I get free pizza today by taking my tickets into Pizza Pizza, since there's a promotion where if there's more than seven strikeouts, you get a free slice. Lunch is covered for the day. Then we hit the pub, to meet up with qbmuses, cynjen and ferox. Fun times, although I ended up leaving early because I'd slept maybe four hours the night before.

Saturday: Morning started with the news that Mindy and Greg have secured the apartment upstairs. Yay for neighbours! Then there was apple picking with dumbphilomel, Greg, the roomie and QB. With apple pie for laters - QB and I are peeling and slicing legends. Then there was more pub.

Sunday A quieter one for me - while the roomie and QB were off elsewhere, I ended up cleaning up pie mess, taking out the trash and uprooting the dead plants from the patio. Dirt removal next weekend. Then QB came back and we watched Josie and the Pussycats whilst waiting for the roomie to return from the last Jays game for this season. Early-ish night, after some logging to complete New Orleans Is Sinking for x_project. I also had to make sure there was nothing for the cats to eat or drink after midnight, given they were off to the vet Monday morning. It involved not only emptying their dishes, but closing the trashcan and the bathroom door (since they like to eat paper, the weirdoes). And then getting up again once the roomie had returned from the pub to again close the bathroom door and the kitchen trashcan.

Monday: Got up at 7 so I could drop the kits off at the vet on the way to work. They're learned that carrier = vet, so I had some wrangling to do this morning. Apologies to the roomie if I woke him up. Dropped them off without hassle, and I'm to call between 3 and 4 to see how they're doing, and pick them up on the way home.

Made some changes to my friendslist to decrease blah first thing in the morning.

I have a launch to attend *rolls eyes* but otherwise, a relatively quiet day. Although I'm the only assistant in my area for the next month, as Esther has gone to Africa to work at a mission until November.

Think I'll go get that pizza. And hopefully the bank will call today about the overdraft I applied for on Thursday.

Fur people
calm
deathpixie
Random pic for you all, using the laptop's camera. Given they've been tearing around like mad things all night and this morning, it's a relief that they've decided to calm down. Even if it means I'm trying to find space in my lap for the computer and two rather large half-grown kits. And they still smell good after their bath. *grins*

Baseball last night with the roomie, the last one for me of the season. Go Jays! They won, 5-4 against Tampa Bay, and it was a really good game. And we had pretty good seats, having gotten freebie tickets off Paul from the pub. I died later - we'd had a late night Thursday, and work kicked my butt yesterday, plus then the game. I ended up abandoning ship at the pub, despite having the guestage in the form of qbmuses. Still, feeling much better today, for all I got woken up several times.

There's a meme going around, asking for people to comment to get mail. I'm going to post it here, but I'm not going to reply, because most of the people who have posted it have already sent me stuff at one point or another, or done something amazing for me recently. If you've already posted the meme, that counts as being eligible. :)

It might be something I've made, or something cool from my hidden stash of fabulousity, it might be a mix CD - or a rubber duck, a book I think you will enjoy, or something else that is awesome.

Whatever it is, I promise that I will get it to you in 365 days or less. (I will need your snail mail if you're not local).

The only thing you need to do in order to participate is to be one of the first three to reply to this, AND post this very same thing on YOUR live journal - cause its fun to give people stuff.

Edit: *peers at her Australian bank account* I'm guessing the $200 in there that wasn't mine is from you, Dad? Thanks. I'll pay you back in a couple of weeks.

Kits' first bath

There are two very disgruntled looking, damp but now clean and fresh-smelling cats in the hallway, frantically grooming themselves. And because I was clever and trimmed their claws first, Bath was achieved with a minimum of lost blood. Angel struggled the most, and Spike, having fallen in the bath before, was pretty much resigned to the whole process.

Unfortunately, the batteries in my camera need charging, so I can't share the image. :(

Busy, busy...

deathpixie
I knew the last half of this week was going to be busy, but man...

Wednesday - job interview. Get two job offers. Take the one I'm at. Go out with roomie that night and celebrate waaaay too much.

Thursday - factum due in one of our appeals on Friday. Help law student get that together and mailed out, which involves much running around like the crazy thing. Work through lunch to cover lateness, take kits to vet for their booster shots - kits are beautifully behaved, again. Make appointment for neutering (October 1). Come home, get sushi as personal treat for jobliness and then have guitar lesson with Johnny that goes rather well.

Friday - work less insane (huzzah!). Counselling appointment at 5, which means having to work through lunch again. Movie night with the girls over at ferox and cynjen's house. May fall asleep and apologise for snoring in advance. ;)

The weekend itself, there's nothing planned that I know of. Laundry, since I'm running out of underwear again. X-Project, since there's a lot to be done. Sleeping, since man do I need sleep. Getting my official documents (residency permit, birth certificate, voided cheque, Social Insurance Number) together for signing things on Monday. *hees!* Cleaning up the place, since that's fallen badly by the wayside too...

Kitties' first trip to the vet.
road
deathpixie
Things went rather well. I nearly killed myself hauling the enormous kitty carrier of doom through two subway stations at the tail end of rush hour, but the kits themselves coped rather well. The vet was very nice - she was gentle and caring and didn't hurt them at all, even with the actual needle part. They were a bit freaked out by the whole 'out of the apartment' bit, but we managed well. And all three of us have been having a quiet night in, being utterly exhausted by the whole deal. There's another visit in three weeks for a booster, and then another a few weeks later for the neutering, which means I have time to save, hooray!

And on that note, I sleep now. Especially since I was food flat when I got home and now I've eaten I'm all braindead and tired.

Night all.

Kitty update
road
deathpixie
It's been a while since I mentioned the kits, and given I've been calling vets today to see about getting them neutered, it's as good a time as any.

Right now, as I type, Spike is lounging on the coffee table, looking very mellow. Angel has just chased my watch off the table (caught it half way down) and is now prowling the couch, looking for helpless to help. Or possibly something to gnaw on. *wry*

They're nearly six months old now. And huge. Not in an obese way, but in the "I've got enormous paws and long legs and big ears and now I'm growing into them" way. Contrary to their namesakes, Spike is the stocky, beefy one, not as tall as Angel but definitely heavier. He's still gnawing on me periodically - he's definitely a biter.

Angel is big as well, but in the lean, panther-y way. He's still got some growing to do, too - his paws are still too big for him, which means he tends to fall off things periodically and then try and look dignified. He's definitely become the mummy's boy, curling up in my lap whenever he can and licking my face when I'm in bed. Yes, he's a licker - where Spike will bite, Angel will lick. And he has this habit of having just the tip of his tongue pocking out of his mouth at times, which is adorable.

Spike, looking rather Jabba-like.

Angel, looking confused as he often does.

Neither is particularly smart, and right now they're in the throes of cat adolescence, which means a lot of tearing around the apartment chasing each other, much to the detriment of various possessions. However, getting them neutered should help with that, hopefully. Although, it is an expensive business. Some of the quotes, ouch! I think I've found somewhere, though - the Blue Cross Animal Hospital on Danforth Avenue. Accessible by subway, I think and at least $100 cheaper each cat than everywhere else I've contacted. Plus, there were some reasonable reviews on toronto that ferox pointed me at. So, I think I shall be calling them back and making appointments for them asap.

They drive me insane sometimes, but they are my kits, and I do love the little buggers. ;)

Cat shenanigans
road
deathpixie
Spike is possibly the dumbest cat I've ever met.

Scenario: I'm in the bath, reading a book. Door's open, since both kits tend to meow plaintively as if they've been abandoned on the side of the road. The side of the bath is wide enough, on the side not next to the wall, for them to sit on, so that's what they're doing.

Spike decides to go for a wander around the edge. He gets half way around the wall side, which is barely five centimetres wide, when the inevitable happens.

He slips and falls into the bath.

Of course, there's the mad scramble out, during which my naked self gets used as leverage for claws (ow) and then there's a dripping kitten tearing out into the living room. Which meant that I had to get out of the bath, dry myself, get a towel and grab afore-mentioned dripping kitten to dry him off and then mop up the water. *rolls eyes*

And just at the exciting point of my book, too.

I love the little monsters, but sometimes, I really do wonder about their brains. They're aptly named - pretty and predatory, but not all that bright. ;)

And speaking of brains, mine is pounding fit to burst, so I'm going to sign out for the evening and hope I can sleep it off without Advil. :(

Cat therapy
road
deathpixie
So, on the way back from counselling, I stopped at the pet store and picked up a few things for the kits. A scratching post, some more food, and a couple of toys, since they needed something they couldn't knock under the couch. So, now they have a ball with a feather attached to it, and possibly the best interactive toy ever - a carrot and a bell on an elastic string attached to a stick. Spike adores it - we've been playing with it for the last twenty minutes. Angel successfully caught the carrot first go and then proceeded to run away with it, forcing me to let go of the stick, which then bounced down the hall after him. He's... not happy about that - he's sitting under the table hissing at it if Spike gets too close. I have to admit, I did laugh at him.

(And now they're spoiling my fun by not letting me have my carrot back. *pouts*)

This has got to be the most fun ever.

Counselling went well, and my next session isn't until August 10, since the counsellor's going on holidays for a couple of weeks and the slots filled up immediately afterwards. That's not a problem - I'm starting to recover my ability to be objective again, and to catch myself in bad habits. And I think I want to see how I go with a bit of a break.

Roomie's off to poker, and I'll probably join him at the pub in an hour or so. Might even treat myself to sushi for dinner first, since the hotdog wasn't that filling even with lots of relish on it. And it's given me a bit of indigestion. :P If I take the laptop with me to the pub, I can work on the policies again, work in the edits from the last poll.

Oh, and as I walked back home, someone whistled at me from a car. *hees* Pure chauvinism, I know, but sometimes a girl likes to be whistled at in passing.

Just as long as it isn't accompanied by a request to show someone my tits.

And thanks to frito_kal_ who helped me overcome LJ's issues with my Firefox plug-in, there are more kitty photos. An entire gallery, in fact. Some of them were taken with Mindy's phone, which explains the lighting. ;)

Spike and Angel

Yep, that's what we're calling them. The black and white one is Spike, because he's reckless and adventurous and something of a people-ho. The black one is Angel, because he's broody and quiet and tends to hole up in various corners and he's not so happy about being cuddled. But the real clincher is that these two wrestle. All the time. And Spike generally starts it, and then Angel pwns him. So, there you go.

Unfortunately, no pics today, because LJ is a bitch who keeps telling me I'm not logged in and therefore can't upload pictures. *rolls eyes* Imagine kitties wrestling and chewing on each other's heads.

Question regarding one of my birthday presents...
road
deathpixie
Okay, so the birthday gift from the roomie (and the one that got the most squeeing) was a litter box/carrying cage, a couple of food/water dishes, and a catnip toy. No, he's not trying to make me the apartment cat - basically it's his way of saying that we can get a cat. Possibly two, since they look after each other better that way. I'm planning to go to one of the shelters and pick myself out a kitty (or two), but I haven't done it yet because something occurred to me the other day.

Dexcon is coming up (August 3-6, btw), and we have quite a few people doing the usual and crashing with us before and after the event itself. I'm aware there are a number of people of my acquaintance with serious allergies, plus there's the fact an apartment full of people may not the the easiest thing for new kitties to deal with. Summer is also the height of kitten season, so there would be a lot more choice out there for me if I leave obtaining said kitties until August.

So, here's where I ask for advice. With a poll!
