Australian metropolitan cities are well established in their transit systems and represent a mixed use development that makes them vibrant and active. But the focus needs to be on the regional cities that are set to develop in the next 20 years to work with the metropolitan cities to provide better living and working conditions. In this paper the regional cities of Newcastle, Hobart and Geelong are studied to find the evidence of such development based on the TOD metrics formed further into the study and compared on the basis of their past, present and future urban plans.
