Das Plugin SMTP Mailer (engl.) erlaubt dir den Mail-Server so zu konfigurieren, dass er alle ausgehenden E-Mails von deiner Website bearbeitet. Es übernimmt die Kontrolle der wp_mail-Funktion und benutzt SMTP stattdessen.

SMTP-Mailer-Einstellungen
- SMTP-Host:Dein ausgehender E-Mail-Server (z. B. smtp.gmail.com).
- SMTP-Authentifizierung: Ob eine SMTP-Authentifizierung für das Senden einer E-Mail benutzt werden soll (Ja/Nein). Wenn du dich für die Authentifizierung entscheidest, musst du auch deinen Benutzernamen und dein Passwort angeben.
- SMTP-Benutzername: Der Benutzername, um dich zu deinem SMTP-Server zu verbinden.
- SMTP-Passwort: Das Passwort, um dich zu deinem SMTP-Server zu verbinden.
- Art der Verschlüsselung: Die Verschlüsselung, die für das Senden einer E-Mail benutzt wird (TLS/SSL/Keine Verschlüsselung. TLS ist empfohlen).
- SMTP-Port: Der Port, der für das Senden einer E-Mail benutzt wird (587/465/25). Wenn du TLS auswählst, sollte er auf 587 stehen. Benutze für SSL stattdessen Port 465.
- From Email Address: The email address to be used as the From Email when sending a test email.
- From Name: The name to be used as the From Name when sending a test email.
- Force From Name: The From name in the settings is set for all outgoing email messages.
- Force From Email: The From email in the settings is set for all outgoing email messages.
- Force From Address: The From address in the settings is set for all outgoing email messages.
- Disable SSL Certificate Verification: As of PHP 5.6 a warning/error is shown if the SSL certificate on the server is not properly configured. This option lets you disable that behaviour.
SMTP-Mailer-Test-E-Mail
Nachdem du die Einstellungen gesetzt hast, kannst du eine Test-E-Mail verschicken, um die Funktionalität des Plugins zu testen.
- An: E-Mail-Adresse des Empfängers.
- Betreff: Betreff der E-Mail.
- Nachricht: E-Mail-Inhalt.

Installation
- Gehe zur Ansicht „Installieren“ im Bereich Plugin in deinem WordPress Dashboard
- Klicke auf den Upload-Tab
- Suche auf deinem Computer nach der Plugin-Datei (smtp-mailer.zip)
- Klicke auf „Jetzt installieren“ und dann auf den Aktivieren-Button.

For my WordPress site, I didn’t want complex plugins with lots of options or that consumed a lot of resources. I was looking for something simple.
At first, it didn’t work well because it wasn’t 100% compatible with Jetform, but the developer fixed it in just a few days. Now the plugin is even better.

I’ve tried some of the better-known ‚big name‘ SMTP plugins, but none of them did exactly what I needed with CF7 sending both Mail and Mail (2) seamlessly. This one just works with no complications or headaches. Big thanks to Noor Alam for making such a simple and reliable plugin!

I needed something quick and easy when a contact page on an old site started breaking for some reason and I decided to redo it with new plugins for the form and mailer. This plugin got me going and fixed within minutes to get the SMTP part working and then worked immediately with the form I built using WPForms Lite.

The plugin is good, but the settings menu used to be properly placed in the admins settings section. A couple of updates ago, the authors decided to create a new top menu item for it. This is bad practice and i really dislike plugins spamming the backend. A plugin like this should just have a settings page under „settings“ not create a new plugin menu item.
Please consider keeping our backends tidy and undo this change. Sorry for the rating, but it is how I feel right now. Will update as soon as I change my mind or you the plugin settings placement.

For sensible reasons, not all of us upgrade Wordpress the moment a new version is released.
So I was surprised to find that, today, my website was no longer able to send SMTP emails when nothing on the server had changed… except I found that SMTP Mailer had been upgraded to 1.1.18 and, when sending email, would fail with the following error:

Version 1.1.18 assumes that wp-includes/class-wp-phpmailer.php is available on previous versions of Wordpress… it isn’t … and the plugin fails because this file does not exist.
