GCSE Speaking examination

The speaking exam consists of three parts: a role play, a photo card and a general conversation. You
will need to cover 2 topic areas, and get to pick 1 of the following topics. This will be your chosen
topic. The second topic will be decided by the following criteria: There are 3 broader topic areas in
total (Topic area A, B and C). As you choose one subtopic, belonging to one of these areas, and the
photocard covers another one of the broader areas, the second general conversation area will cover
the remaining topic area (which has neither been covered by photocard nor by your chosen topic).

In your preparation, don’t just answer the question, but try to expand, this is your chance to show
off your German. However, be sure not to answer one of the other questions already. Remember to
use a range of structures (weil, tenses, obwohl, modal verbs, conditional…).
