Darth Maul Livesl

And boy does he look pissed!

It may be baffling to many how Lucas is going to do this, with a character that has been chopped in half. I, too, am baffled, and I am eager to find out how Maul can be brought back. While this may never match my head!canon Maul, who comes from Iridonia, I am pleased as punch that Lucas is bringing him back, as Lucas realizes how popular this totally awesome Sith Lord is. Granted, I would have loved a movie with Ian McDiarmid and Ray Park, called simply, "Maul," but this will be fun.

Is this Peragus we see? KOTOR II fans know the place well!

Hmm, lightsaber hilts and Anakin's prothesis need to be made of a non-ferrous metal. Imagine if it had been Darth Vader caught in that magnetic field... all four limbs stuck to the ceiling!

Ah, carbonite freezing... is it canonically safe now?
Nope, not from what I see.
Anakin and Obi-Wan took a calculated risk there, along with the clone troopers. They knew they were hardy enough to have excellent odds of surviving the quick freezing process. They were also not going to risk anyone else, which must be the reason why Anakin did not want Ahsoka tagging along. Perhaps because of her youth and light build, or Togruta physiology, carbonite freezing may have had unpredictable results on her and Anakin was too responsible to risk that with his padawan.
It was a very good tactic, though. Not only do life signs not read on scans, it is canonically established (Michael Reaves, Shadow Hunter for one), that even Force powers could penetrate carbonite with considerable difficulty if at all.
Carbonite is still dangerous. That fact remains emphasized with Han Solo, who endured hibernation sickness emerging from the carbonite, which is still dangerous as it left him weak and helpless.
Satal and Aleema Keto of the Old Republic era, heirs of the carbonite industries of Cinnagar, executed their father and others by freezing them in carbonite when they had turned to the dark side.
Jedi Master Corran Horn's children were to be put in carbonite under the orders of Admiral Daala's regime. It is considered a brutal measure and there is always a chance that someone may not survive the process. It is comparable to cryonics today, with the attendant dangers.

The Anakin/Tarkin (not pairing!) begins... wonder how much of Rogue Planet is canonically recognized in that story?

According to the commentary on Clone Wars episode 3.17, the Ghosts of Mortis, Son was slated to be influenced and guided by two ancient Sith Lords, Darth Bane and Darth Revan, who were supposed to appear in the in the episode, but George Lucas nixed the idea.

We will now haunt George Lucas for nixing our re-emergence!

Dave Filoni wants to let fans know that this epic idea was at least considered.

It would have been absolutely totes awesome to see.

(Wait a minute, isn't Light Side Revan canon????)

*But Son still looks like Darth Malak to me!*
