Star Wars LEGO Slave 1

My son David love to build LEGO and so do I;)

Some time ago he got the carbon freezing chamber box, with Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbon. Didn´t take long untill he asked for a Slave 1 modell to... but the box cost about £220 a bit over my budget at the moment...
So I decided to build him one from some pictures in one of his LEGO Star Wars books and using two small LEGO BrickMaster models he already got.

The final result...I hope you like the end result, at least David did:)

LEGO Speed Champions, Rules and AAR

LEGO Speed Champions

David my 7-year old son have started to collect the LEGO Speed Champions cars and asked me if we could race. Of course I answered, but we need rules:)

So here follows our quick rules for our LEGO Speed Champions games:

We used ordinary LEGO road to build our racing track. In the middle of the road you can see white lines, each of them are one step of movement.

When we play we let two cars meet in each heat, a heat can be 1 to 3 laps around the race track. A heat is divided in turns and in each turn the players roll 2D6 to see how many steps his car may move. The car that is in the lead or on the inner track always moves first.

If you at any time roll two 6´s, your engine have been pushed over the limit and are damaged, this move you only move half (rounded up). Each turn from now on you are only allowed to roll 1D6 as your engine are damaged until the end of this heat.

NITRO – All cars have a NITRO-boost that they can use only once during a heat. If used the player roll one (1) additional D6 for movement during that turn i.e. normally 3D6, increasing his move but also increase the chance to blow the car engine if two 6´s would be rolled. You can use your NITRO-Boost even if your car engine are damaged but then you only roll 2D6 that turn.

The winner are the car that first crosses the finishing line after the decide number of laps have been done. If several cars crosses the finishing line in the same turn the winner are the car that rolled the highest move in that turn. Remember that if you were unlucky enough to roll two 6´s you only count half of your total to decide the winner.

Here follows a short AAR from a 2 laps Heat of LEGO Speed Champions that I and David played using our rules abow.

David was using the Ford Mustang GT, his latest purchase.

I was using a old school 1969 Chevrolet Camaro with a well tuned engine;)

The race track that we would run two laps. each lap are 28 movement steps (withe lines in the middle of the track).

Both drivers are ready for the start...

...and the light goes green...

Turn 1: David roll 7 and move his Mustang 7 steps, I roll 8 and move my Camaro 8 steps and gor a small lead in the heat...

With high speed and screeming tiresboth cars are going through the first curve on

Turn 2: David roll 10 and I roll 6 so David now take the lead...

Turn 3: David roll 8 and I must have got a bad skid in the curv as I only managed to roll 2...

As I now was way behind David I decided to use my NITRO-Booast... rolling 3D6 for my move :)

Turn 4: David roll 5 and I managed to roll 18 !!! blowing my engine up in the progress but was still allowed to move half, i.e 9 steps this turn... and from now on only use 1D6 for my moves :(

Turn 5: David roll 6 and I roll 2...

As I during the secon lap only was allowed to roll 1D6 David was up for a easy win moving 21 steps during turn 6 and 7 while I only anaged to move 11 steps with my damaged car.

Turn 8: Dvid roll 9 and was crossing the finnishing line and I rolled a 6 and was long from winning...

The Heat ended after 2 laps.

David was the true winner of the LEGO Speed Champions of today.

Tomorrow I will have my revenge, just have to fix my car first...

Black Ops, first game

For a review in Wargames Soldier and Strategy issu 80 I got me a pre-release copy of the upcomming Black Ops wargaming rules writen by Guy Bowers and published by Osprey Wargames 10, due to publication 20 October 2015.

As I didn´t have the appropriate minis and also had to entertain (read lure in to the historical wargaming) my 6-year old son we used his Lego Star wars minis for a first test game:)

The rules are really easy to get hold of so you can use your brain to try to solve your mission, my Son got the basics really fast and I only keept track of the modifications. The rules are card-driven, but we didn´t find a ordinary deck of cards at home so we used a UNO card deck for activation wich worked fine.

Can´t tell you much more at the moment regarding the rules, but please reade my review in WSS 80 when published in September...Here are some pictures from our game....In a galaxy far far away...

To the left, starting of board, Luke Skywalker and 4 Elite rebell troopers. They had to escort C3PO and R2-D2 to saftey on the othere side of the gaming board.

In there way was the Bounty hunter Boba Fett and 9 regular Stormtroopers to aid im in his hunt for the 2 wanted droids.

I comanded Luke and the Rebells and my Son comanded Boba Fett and the Imperial...

The Rebell troopers rushes forward and open fire at 2 Imperial froopers...

While Luke are out sneaking around in the back...

The fire from the 4 Rebell troopers was to intence for the poor Imperials that fall to the ground...stunned ofcourse...

Even sneaking Luke run in to a group of Imperial Stormtroopers with Boba Fett close by...

Boba Fett knows he wont win fighting Luke so he leaves that to the Stormtroopers and take a fly up on a high possition to look for the two wanted droids...

At fist he just see the firefight between the Rebell troopers and the Stormtroopers

C3PO and R2-D2 are slowley moving for saftey...

At least C3PO get a bit upset when he sees that Luke might have a bit of a problem defeating the 3 Stormtroopers even using his Lightsaber...

...butC3PO get even more upset when Boba Fett land just in front of them opening fire...

...but misses...

...in the meantime the Rebell troopers have a intense firefight with the Stormtroopers that seems to have a endless supply of troops to throw in to the combat...

...Rebell troopers falls all over the place...stunned ofcourse...

As the Stormtroopers now have defeated the Rebell troppers they can start to chase after the 2 droisd that are trying to get away from Boba Fett...

My son really enjoied this new way of playing with his Star Wars LEGO.

Luke had after a close fight managed to defeat the 3 Stormtroopers and run to aid the droids in there escape...but Boba Fett are in the way...

...but not for long as Luke get a shoot in with his tiny blaster... the escape rout are cleared...

...but not really as a big bunch of Stormtroopers comes heading in there direction...

...as the hero Luke are he place him self in the line of fire, waving his lightsaber to scare the Stormtroopers off...

...and apperently it works, at lest it gives the 2 droids the time they need to escape of the board...

...end of Episode Vb...

We both had a really good game and was both pleased that the droids managed to escape, my son asked for one more game and that is the best of Review a game can get:) But I still hope you read my Review to in September, but nothing about this LEGO game in that...

I hope you all will have a really nice weekend !  I know I will and also enjoy my vaccation:)
