Losing my focus...

As all? wargamers I sometimes have a hard time to focus at my projects, during the summer some of my friends started up a ACW project... in a weak moment i mentioned something about painting a brigade...

Minis to use...
It din´t take long before I got some left over minis, about 80 or so, to start my painting...but I newer got around as I realy didn´t know what to paint...Union...Confederat...which brigade...

After some research and also checking the minis I got I decided to go for the Union and the Philadelphia Brigade as it included both "ordinary", Irish and Zouave regiments, and it also god enought matched the minis I got:)

The Philadelphia Brigade consisted of 4 regiments:

69th Pennsylvania Vols (2nd California Regiment, Irish)
71st Pennsylvania Vols (1st California Regiment)
72nd Pennsylvania Vols ( Baxter's Fire Zouaves/3rd California Regiment )
106th Pennsylvania Vols (5th California Regiment)

Flags of War...
I started to look for flags but didn´t find them all, just the  Baxter's Fire Zouaves at Flags of War. So I contacted Iain at Flags of War and asked if he had any plans to make the rest of the flags for the Philadelphia Brigade?

Iain was promt in his respons and offer to make them, we had some mail conversation of how they should look I sent all the links and pictures I found at the web of the flags and in almost no time Iain hade made them all:) Perfect customer service !

I actually got the flags some month ago...but I haven´t mustered the inspiration to paint the minis untill recently...

No pictures of the first minis from this little interlude yet, but here are some sample pictures of the stunning flags that Iain made for my 4 regiments.

If you in need of the flags for the Philadelphia brigade you find them at Flag of War :)

As I still have a hard time to motivate my self for this project it will be a real speed painting interlude.

More in a day or two...

Knights

About a month agoe I started to paint some Knights for my Kalmar Union War Project...but then Oskar lured me in to a "small" fantasy project...I´m now back at track, I hope...

I have 24 knights to paint, 18 Union/Danish/German and 6 Rebell/Swedish. I will paint them i batches of 6, and here are some pictures of the first 6 knights...

This will represent a small unit of Knights for the Hail Caesar rules, the average units will have 6 bases...

They are under command of a Holstein Noblemen from the House of Ahlefeldt.

As I had painted the banner from my memory, that obviously arn´t that good, I had to repaint the wing symbole on the banner...

If you don´t want to paint your own banner you can donwload realy nice ones from Dansk Figurspilsforenings.

Medieval Swedish Flags

At last have I completed 2 of the flags for my Medieval Swedish Impetus Army. The first flags to get painted was the Saint George Banner and a Banner for the Bishop of Linkoping in 1463.

Flags #2

Yes I have painted some...15mm Crimean War minis for my friend Oskars Crimeas War games that we are planing to play on the 9th of april.

And I have alsoe painted a little bit on my next regiment for my AWI project the 42nd Highlanders...I hope they will be finished by next week...

I alsoe working on some more flags for my 15th centery Swedish rebel army...today I have a VIP pictures of the banner for the Bishop of Linköping Kettil Karlsson Vasa (First Name/Last Name(son of Karl)/House Name).

Kettil was the nobleman that started the rebellion in 1463 against the Union/Danish king Christian I of Denmark. The King had imprisoned the Archbishop of Sweden Jöns Bengtsson Oxenstierna that was a relative to Kettil. It is stated that Kettil placed he´s Bishop dress on the altar of the Cathedral of Linköping and dressed in armour and swore not to act as Bishop again until he´s friend and relative was released.

The rebellion led to the Battle of Haraker 17 april 1464 there the Swedish rebell army triumphed agains King Christian I´s Union/Danish army...the battle that I aiming for with my armies:)

...and now the picture of the banner...I don´t know if it looked like this but I have combined the arms of the Bishop of Linköping and the older arms of the House of Vasa...

Flags

Haven´t had much time for painting the last couple of weeks, but I managed to work a little bit on a Main Banner for my Swedish 15th centery army for Impetus.

I dont realy want to use the Swedish flag for them as it probably wasen´t used back in the 15th centery...But according to some historical sources the Swedish army did fight under the banner of several saints during the attack on Denmark in januari 1452. There are 4 different mentioned, the banner of Saint George, Saint Erik, Saint Olof and a banner with the Blessed Virgin Mary with the 3 Swedish crowns alsoe on it...

So I will try to make me some Banner for the Saints with a Swedish look:)

Here are a first VIP picture of the Banner of Saint George, more work to do...

TYW Flags

I have got some questions about how I paint my flags...and here are some pictures...

The Linnen have been glued to the flagpoles and painted with a base colour, and cut to the right length. You can alsoe see my scetch of how I will try to paint the flags...

Now they got a White base and Highligt...

Sorry for the blure picture...I have now lined out the base colour for the green (Dark green), red (Cavalry brown) and yellow (German orange ochre).
.

After I have highligted the green (Uniform Green) I painted the Burgundian cross in the red base colour.

Here I have highligted the red (Vermillion) and yellow (Yellow Ochre)

Another lousy picture.... the Flags have been shreded with my cliper and formed in the right flickering pose:)
