Assistant Ice Technician
The Assistant Ice Technician Course is a one-day course for those assisting certified technicians, focusing on basic curling ice maintenance like scraping, pebbling, and temperature monitoring.

Together with Curling Canada, CURLSASK is excited to implement the new Ice Technician Program!
Curling Canada and its Member Associations are committed to creating educational programs for individuals serving its member’s curling centers in the role of Ice Technician. Whether assisting with the daily maintenance or installing ice for major competitions in arenas – Curling Canada has a training program for each of the roles these important individuals play in the sport of curling. We want all participants to have the very best environment and playing conditions wherever they choose to play.
The new Ice Technician Program is comprised of the following courses:
The Assistant Ice Technician Course is a one-day course for those assisting certified technicians, focusing on basic curling ice maintenance like scraping, pebbling, and temperature monitoring.
The HIT Program is intended for those who are looking for a career in ice making and need to learn the skills of installing, maintaining, and removing ice in a dedicated curling facility for league and bonspiel play. At the completion of the workshop, participants will be at the “Curling Ice Technician – Trained” status.
This is the next step for those who have received the “Head Ice Technician – Trained Status”, and that now wish to become “Head Ice Technician – Certified Status”.
The Competition Ice Technician training course prepares Ice Technicians to create competiton playing conditions for Championship Events (Such as Tour event, or Provincial/ Territorial Event) hosted in a curling centre.
