The U-25 NextGen Classic is coming to Edmonton!

U-25 Men’s and Women’s NextGen Classic to April 25-28 at the Saville Community Sports Centre in Edmonton.
The U-25 Mixed Doubles NextGen Classic event will take place in Edmonton from Aug. 23-25, 2026.
Applications for the U-25 NextGen Classic Men’s and Women’s events will open on Monday, March 2nd and close on Wednesday, March 11th. The link will be shared through Curling Canada’s social media. The cutoff for CTRS points will be the updated CTRS list on Tuesday, March 10th after the Brier. Many teams will be able to apply before that date, and all teams will be notified on March 12th if they have been selected. The entry fee will be $900/team and paid after selection.

The Men’s and Women’s fields will consist of 12 teams each. The format will be two round robin pools, with four teams advancing to a single-elimination playoff.

Each team will be guaranteed five games against teams within their pool. All games are 8-ends, and the same coaching rules at the Scotties/Brier/U SPORTS/CCAA will be used. All games will be streamed on Curling Stadium.

The total purse is $17,000 each for the Women’s and Men’s events:
Champions: $7,500 (plus additional benefits listed below)
Runner-Up: $4,500
Semi-Finalists: $2,500

The U-25 Champions automatically earn a berth in Curling Canada’s National NextGen Program for 2026-2027. Their share of the purse will come in the form of National NextGen Program funding.

To compete in the Under-25 NextGen Classic, teams must have a combined age of 100 years or less as of June 30, 2026.

All teams must also commit to competing in at least five tour events, plus Men’s or Women’s provincials, during the 2026-2027 season.

The Men’s and Women’s teams for the Under-25 NextGen Classic will include 12 teams:

  • 10 teams from the 2025-2026 Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS), understanding that individual points can be combined for teams with new players.
  • The 2026 Canadian U-20 Champion, who will be representing Canada at the 2027 World Junior Championships. (Note: this team will not be declared until April 4th so with a tight turnaround time, if the team declines or has already been selected for the event, the additional spot will go to the next ranked CTRS team.)
  • One team selected by an internal Curling Canada panel.
