4M Kisses In The Rain

Like clock work, Mother Nature revealed signs of the coming of spring to me this past Friday with the return of the tiny patch of snow crocus in my yard.

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me! This week, there’s no theme. It’s whatever music moves you. Last June I stumbled on today’s artist. I liked the name of the first track off the album playlist with the same title and decided to save this little jewel for this month. Here is Rick Braun “Kisses In the Rain”.

The name Rick Braun didn’t jingle any bells. Sometimes I wonder if I have any bells to jingle with all of these unknowns I find. A quick Brave search turned up a hit leading me to his website. There I learned he’s an trumpeter, composer, and producer with 30 #1 hits. What’s that? How can this be? Furthermore, he’s been around a good while beginning his career in 1980 as a singer and songwriter writing REO Speedwagon’s Top 20 hit “Here with Me” and the theme for NBC’s Midnight Caller. Later on, he returned to trumpeting, touring, and recording with some big names in the business we all know… Rod Stewart, Sade, Tina Turner, Tom Petty, Natalie Cole, Glenn Frey, and War. Kisses In The Rain is one of five acclaimed albums released by Braun as a solo artist. I look forward to exploring more of his music. I hope you enjoyed the playlist.

Everyone has time restraints. Please if you can, when you add your link to make an honest effort to visit, comment, or click ‘like” to let your bloggy friend know you stopped by. For some a small gesture means a lot and as I’ve said “liking” my post may be the only way I know that you visited, but since you can’t do that right now, please drop an emoji if you don’t have time or just don’t want to say anything in comments, so I’ll know you stopped by.

Are you ready? It’s now your turn to share what music moves you!

This is the last Monday in the month, which means it’s time to send out our hip-hip-hoorays to Robin from Songbird’s Crazy World who celebrated turning another year younger on the 18th. I hope your day was a special one, my friend! 👏🎉🎈🎂

I think I figured out away to remind some of you at least of my 4M posts by making it a priority to join Sandee each Monday. Next time on CAAC is a double post. Swing by if you’re in the neighborhood for a new edition of Sunday Songs and March 1st BOTB. Have a boogietastic week! xo

Sunday Songs – John 3:16

Songs to lift the body, soul, and mind!

My quest for songs of love spoken in the Bible ultimately brings me to my favorite and the most recognizable verse regardless of your religious belief.

This is a day of rest. There’s no need for words. Thank you for stopping by and for 4Mers or anyone with music wishing to join the party early then link up below. I’ll be back in the morning with Monday’s Music Moves Me. Have a blessed Sunday!

4M Purple Sky

February ‘s birthstone is the Amethyst and flower is the Violet. Find song picks inspired by the color purple, birthstone, or flower!

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me! Purple is the color for February. The Amethyst is this month’s birthstone and the violet is its flower. Find song picks inspired by these prompts or put your own spin on it.

Purple Sky is from Kid Rock’s first all country album, Born Free in 2010. The album went platinum. I enjoy this side of Kid Rock. I got a bit tickled when I read that this is KRs first album that didn’t require a parental advisory sticker. I do prefer clean entertainment.

I did a do-over illustration from 2020 A2Z for Valentines Day and gave it to DH. Here’s the original Procreate sketch.

For each of the grandkiddies, I made these handcrafted cards. I borrowed the popout heart idea from FB and added my personal twist. Those FB craft people make it look so easy to do this but for me it took a bit to figure out how to get the heart to work. It was a bit sloppy, but I thought okay it’s still a cute card and they are little. Hopefully, it’ll be fun for them to receive if nothing else. I used basically sketched my bear couple with a heart shape between them so I’d know where to place the popout. Outlined with a fine black marker then used my Prismacolor pencils for the color fill. The hearts on Mimi bear I used a marker for a bolder shade of pink.
For a good friend, I sketched a design like this then using it as a prototype, I illustrated it again using Procreate.
I made this cake for DH, a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. I inserted pockets of sweetened raspberry preserves into the cake, as well put a thin layer between each cake round, and topped it with the pretty raspberry shaped heart. I kind of planned things as I went along. It’s not the neatest job, but it was really tasty! I’ll try to get the recipe up on my site soon. 😉

Sunday Songs – No Greater Love

Staying on the path of love, this next song I really like and have shared it with you before.

This is a day of rest. There’s no need for words. Thank you for stopping by and for 4Mers or anyone with music wishing to join the party early then link up below. I’ll be back in the morning with Monday’s Music Moves Me. Y’all have a blessed Sunday!

Valentine’s Day – i Heart U

Today’s post was inspired while shuffling through archived images that I borrowed from the Internet to use and these are a perfect fit for today.  I normally don’t post on the weekends, but it’s the season of love and I didn’t want the opportunity to pass without sharing these little jewels.

The cat tails forming a heart is my favorite. Which one do you like the best?

4M A Forgotten 70s Song

I like being able to show you my art progression but I can’t find the old artwork either here on my site or computer. The original is one of my earliest Procreate creation from 2017 or 2018. I’ll find it eventually, but anyhow this a do-over Procreate sketch that I used in Brushstrokes to give it that painting like effect.

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me! There’s no theme this week, it’s whatever music moves you, but then again, music prompts are only suggestions. 😉

In recent years, this song crossed my path a few times, a 70s song that I forgot and needless to say, I couldn’t name the artist. Usually, I like to make a note where I find music but failed to do that.  I know it was one of you, though.  Walter Egan released Magnet and Steel in 1978 from his second album, Not Shy.  The song peaked number eight on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 9 in Canada. The song stayed on American charts for 22 weeks.  It was interesting to read Fleetwood band members Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham provided backup vocals, along with others, on this track.  Give up for Walter Egan, “Magnet and Steel”!

This past Friday we had some excitement on our street. While sitting in the living room having our breakfast and watching The Price Is Right, we noticed what appeared like fast moving dark clouds rolling toward the north. At first we didn’t think anything of it, then DH said “I wonder if that’s smoke?” We both stood up and notice across the street some dark smoke bellowing from behind the neighbor’s house. It wasn’t long before we heard a siren then we noticed the flames shooting out of the roof. I’m no expert but I’m pretty sure there’s no saving the structure. The good news is the elderly woman and her son escaped the fire with minimal injuries. This was all so scary.  Please keep them in your prayers while they are displaced and dealing with the aftermath of the fire.

Have a boogietastic week!

Shot this pretty scene late last Thursday while out running an errand after DH got off from work. This is not too far from Norris dam. I didn’t notice the birds along the bank and what appears to be a crane in the water. I love finding happy surprises such as this in my pictures.

Sunday Songs – Love Is Patient

In keeping with last week’s inspiration, I’m using “love” again for my song share.

This is a day of rest. There’s no need for words. Thank you for stopping by and for 4Mers or anyone with music wishing to join the party early then link up below. I’ll be back in the morning with Monday’s Music Moves Me. Have a blessed Sunday!

Although, I love the uses of love in songs and other other Bible versions for 1 Corinthians 13, I decided to complete my art creation using my preferred Bible translation.

4M Life’s Too Short

This week’s theme is inspired by the word “short” since February is the shortest month of the year. Pick song titles or song lyrics for this fun prompt!

It’s Groundhog Day, peeps. What will Phil say about the coming of spring? As we wait for that news to break, welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me! No news flash here but February is the shortest month of the year which sounds like a good music prompt. Share your “short” themed song picks (song titles, lyrics, or band names).

The first song to pop in my head was “Short People” by Randy Newman. A ditty I loved as a kid. I know it’s an annoying song for some, so I’ll spare those of you who feel that way. Instead I found a song I thought I knew but I didn’t. Here is Hall & Oates singing “Life’s Too Short”. That sure gets proved every single day the longer I live.

For those interested in having a say so in my newest BOTB went live yesterday.

This scene was inspired by TV series Resident Alien on Peacock that we’re currently watching. I call this “Somewhere in Colorado”.

I continue to stay buried behind the scenes of CAAC working backwards in chronological order as well with posts containing older links adding missing images to back in my posts. I just started on last February’s posts. I’m feeling good about my progress but with 15 years of blogging behind me, I still have a lot to do. Thanks for dropping by. I hope y’all have a boogietastic week!

Can’t Get Enough of Your Love BOTB

Earlier this morning, Sunday Songs published, but since you’re here why not participate in the battle fun!

This the month of love which is the inspiration for my February 1st battle. Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe was written and recorded by Barry White in 1974. When I think of this song I can hear White’s voice. For this showdown, I looked for female vocalist, but came up empty handed. Not that there weren’t any, just none that I liked, and so I found a couple of male contenders to bring to you.

The audio isn’t the best in this video but hopefully you can tell something about the group.

Contender #1 The Dukes Of Maslow

To keep the fight fair, I found another live cover band. The audio is a bit low, but more distinguishable which may give them a slight edge.

Contender #2 Mrs. Jones’ Revenge

I’m not going to let you off the hook just yet. The next clip is a studio recording which is totally unfair and its done by well known artists but still I’m throwing them in as a wild card pick.

Contender #3, Hall & Oates

Now that you’ve listened to both a time or two. Who gets your vote?

Polls close at noon (ET) on the 7th!

That’s it. Now, it’s up to you to tell me in comments who you like and why (optional), then next week on the 8th I’ll drop the results in my comments.  I have a list of fellow BOTBers now located at the top of my blog for anyone interested in checking out more potential battles underway.

This is CAAC signing off, have a bandtastic day!

Sunday Songs – God Is Love

This morning song inspiration came as I thought of February being the month of love and there is no greater love than that comes from God.
