Proceeding from the testimony of ancient authors (Jerome) about Arnobius itself, and especially from the testimony of the author itself, ergo from the text of Adversus nationes, we shall try to analyze the historical influences that shaped Arnobius as author, the role and importance of the historical context in Arnobius’ argumentation, the author’s method of description and evaluation of historical events and his work with them.
He focuses in it on a famous controversy with pagan cults and also on some aspects of contemporary philosophy and Christian theology. Pivotal are in this respect the sections of the second book in which he presents his conception of man and a totally unique concept of soul whose basic characteristic is qualitas media, ergo mediocrity, which represents Arnobius’ attempt to deal with the ancient philosophical and theological ideas and it is also a specific of the author. Proceeding primarily from the Arnobius’ text itself and from the historical context of his life and work, we shall attempt to analyze the author’s theological position on this matter, an attention will be further paid to the motives and methods of Arnobius’ argumentation.
These specific aspects of Arnobius’ thinking give an unusual nature to his apologetical method, constisting, inter alia, in the degradation of the significance of pagan philosophy in its relation to faith and in highlighted conception of the Christian God. Arnobius therefore also in philsosophical consideration pursues primarily an apologetic intent and so his conception of the soul as qualitas media is not a philosophical speculation, but an apologetic instrument. Just the reflections of the human soul are in theological perspective closely associated with Arnobius’ conception of Christ, and therefore we consider it is appropriate to examine them in detail.
The contribution will therefore be dedicated to Arnobius’ accents related
to the Christian theology. More specifically it will focus on the problems of the role of Christ in Arnobius’ theology. Arnobius due to his conception of the human soul to which he ascribes so called qualitas media comes to a different understanding of the role of Christ in history. The aim of our contribution is an analysis of this role of Christ on the basis of the own Arnobius’ words (ie. of the text Adversus nationes), further we will try to reflect Arnobius’ relationship to the doctrine of the church.
Paul’s trial, the development of Roman law and trial elements with emphasis on the appeal
(appellatio) practice and deals with problems of historical resources, too. The focus of our
attention are the Acts of Apostles as the only preserved period resource of this kind of trial.
With respect to the character of this book the attention is paid to the structure of the book in
connection with the intention of its author. In this connection the theological aspects of Paul’s
trial are discussed, too. Marginally are mentioned problems of Paul’s Roman citizenship. "

Práce se věnuje problematice spojené s životem a především římským občanstvím apoštola Pavla. Úvodní kapitolu práce tvoří stručný popis Pavlova života, který de facto tvoří osnovu celé práce. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována Pavlovu původu, vzdělání a v neposlední řadě obrácení ke křesťanství. Bez povšimnutí nezůstává ani misijní činnost Pavlova a jeho konec. Ve druhé části prvé kapitoly je na pozadí biblických pramenů probrán pohled Písma na apoštolovo římské občanství, doplněný historickým exurzem o dějinách římského občanství jako takového se zvláštním přihlédnutím k období Pavlova života, tedy období raného principátu. Zmíněna je samozřejmě i možnost dvojího občanství apoštolova. Z Pavlova občanského stavu vyplývají nutně i Pavlova práva, která utvářejí další jeho životní osudy. Zejména se zde jedná o ve Skutcích obsáhle probraný Pavlův soudní proces. Druhá kapitola práce je proto věnována jednak historii a náležitostem římského soudního procesu, jednak i odvolacímu právu římských občanů, kterého i Pavel, jakožto římský občan, ve svém procesu využil. Zatímco druhá kapitola práce se věnuje rozboru Pavlova procesu z pohledu dobových nebiblických pramenů, přihlíží třetí primárně ke svědectví Nového zákona a srovnává tedy Pavlův proces s procesem Ježíšovým, přičemž zvláštní pozornost je věnována intenci autora, která do značné míry biblické líčení Pavlova procesu utvářela. Závěrečnou kapitolu tvoří pojednání o Pavlově vězení. Práce podává rozbor právní problematiky týkající se Pavlova občanství a soudního případu. Ze srovnání historických poznatků s biblickým textem, konkrétně podáním autora Skutků apoštolských, pak jasně vyvstává nejen jeho vliv na líčení celého případu, ale i jeho koncepce řádného římského soudního jednání. Práce je tedy zastřešena rozborem dosahu autorova vlivu a rozborem koncepce procesu.
