Both these terms raise many philosophical questions, which cannot be dealt with here. Rather, I intend to offer the reader two interpretations of an impact religion may have on our lives in connection our subjectivity. I will use two thinkers, Nietzsche and Kierkegaard, to offer hopefully a balanced view on what could happen in one’s “private space” once we get in touch with religion. Using these two positions the reader, whether seen as being “religious” or not, should be able to form her or his own more qualified say on how religion can actually influence us.
