In this research, β-Glucan which is a good source of feed additive fi sh probiotics, was used in order to benefi t from feed quality in fi shery products, to increase live weight gain and to strengthen the immune system. In this study, recombinant vector pNW33N carrying the β-(1,3-1,4) glucanase (lichenase) gene of Streptococcus bovis genome was transferred to Bacillus subtilis RSKK246 (CMCase+) strain by electroporation. Subsequently, electrotransformation was performed on LB-agar plates containing lichenan and enzymatic activity regions of recombinant B. subtilis RSKK246 colonies were observed by staining with Congo red. In addition, the DNA from the recombinant plasmid pNW33N+Lichenase (pNW33NLic) was cut on both the BamHI and HindIII endonucleases and observed on the lichenase gene (1800 bp) agarose gel. On the other hand, the protein band corresponding to 26 kDa of the recombinant enzyme was observed by zymogram analysis. These results indicate that the β-(1,3-1,4) glucanase gene has been successfully expressed to the B. subtilis strain RSKK246.

In this study, lysozyme enzyme found in chicken egg white was treated under different pH conditions (pH 4.0, 6.0, 8.0, 10.0, 12.0) and the results were observed as electrophoretic. Electrophoretic results revealed that egg white lysozyme was best yielded at pH 4.0. As a result of dropping the egg white solution on the Bacillus subtilis spreaded on the LB-agar plates with a glass rod, it was observed that the bacteria could not developed due to the lysozyme of egg white. On the other hand, genomic and plasmid DNAs were isolated from the bacteria in DNA isolation studies in which the egg white solution was replaced by commercial lysozyme. Tissue samples were collected from a total of 50 fish, and the total genomic DNA was extracted and used for PCR amplification. Therefore, the fish were smoked and marinated. All filleted fish samples including also the raw ones were vacuum-packed, subjected to 9 months of frozen storage and analyzed at 1-month intervals. Changes in muscle proteins of raw, smoked and marinated trout samples (Oncorhynchus mykiss) have been examined using sodium dodecyl sul-phate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). SDS-PAGE and densitometric analysis revealed that intensity and the number of protein bands were not changed until the 9 th month of raw and marinating process while the bands of some protein patterns denaturated when trout muscle was subjected to 9 months of smoking process. My-osin heavy chain (MHC) band with molecular weights of 205 kDa and actin band with molecular weights of 45 kDa appeared during 9 months of raw, smoking and marinating process. Similarly, other main myofibrillar proteins, tropo-myosin (37.7 kDa), troponin-T (32.9 kDa), myosin light chain 1 (27.2 kDa), and myosin light chain 2 (20.4 kDa) also did not show any differences during 9-months storage. Subsequently, there were significant monthly changes in the protein percentages caused by smoking and marinating processes excluding the raw ones (P<0.01).

Heritability estimates were calculated by half-sib analysis from an experiment that contained 3 paternal half-sib families and 11 full-sib families. Heritabilities ranged from 0.00-0.88. These results suggest that because heritabilities of BW, TL, SL, BH, CTH and HL for sires in Oreochromis niloticus for 180 and 210 days old are low, family selection or progeny testing can proposed for selection. But, therefore heritabilities of all traits both male and female for 300 days old are high, selection will propose for are mass selection.

Accordingly, 65 sets of growth data belonging to 43 studies on the subject of the growth of four Mullidae species prevalent in the Mediterranean (Mullus barbatus, Mullus surmuletus, Upeneus pori and Upeneus moluccensis) and the Black Sea (M. barbatus, M. surmuletus). It was discovered that the growth parameters, theoretically affected by similar factors, are not affected by every factor at the same time. It was also discovered that the sample structure given in the studies also affects the biological validity of the parameter estimations.

Tissue samples were collected from a total of 50 fish, and the total genomic DNA was extracted and used for PCR amplification. Particular regions of exon 1–3 from the myostatin gene (390, 435 and 342 bp, respectively) were amplified with specific primers for each exon region by using PCR. The PCR-amplified products of each exon region were digested with appropriate restriction endonuclease enzymes and analysed using agarose gel electrophoresis.
