Our Crowdfunding Groups
UCLA Dragon Boat is a student-run competitive club sports team. Founded in 2004, our team prides itself in building a diverse and tight-knit community of students who are committed to and embody the spirit of competition and excellence. We are 50 paddlers strong, making up two race crews: Blue and Gold.
As a student-run team, our paddlers are continuously concerned about finances. From registration fees and accommodation for race events, to transportation and equipment fees during weekly practices, the majority of the team’s operating expenses come out of our students’ own pockets. Your support will help the team pursue our passion for paddling without the financial stress.
Our initial goal focuses on funding our upcoming race in Tempe this spring. At this race, we will be competing against fellow local and international dragon boat teams. In addition to the hefty race registration fees, transportation, housing, equipment, and other expenses generate significant costs to ensure a successful race experience. But with your help, we can make it happen!
This is where YOU come in! By donating to our campaign, you will not only help alleviate team expenses at this festival, but also contribute to the long tradition and larger Dragon Boat community.
Thanks to our generous donors, our previous SPARK campaign raised over $6,000, surpassing our original goal by approximately 120%! With those funds, we were able to alleviate race fees for our summer crew, cover housing costs, and bring our team to race on the international stage at North America's largest dragon boat festival! Buy a new paddle to keep racing equipment up to par! A team member cannot race without a paddle. Paddles up!
Maintain and repair our paddle ergometer (pERG)! This machine is essential to perfecting our paddlers' technique.
Provide a place to stay for one paddler to ensure a good night's rest for the race!
