Core Temp 1.5.1
A tool intended to provide information about CPU temperature
Program info
Core Temp is mainly intended to provide information about CPU temperature. If you’re wondering why you need to know that, let me tell you that processor overheating can slow your system down or, in the worst cases, cause very serious damage to the machine. Fortunately, using the tool is extremely easy, even if you don’t know a thing about computers.
The application has a simple interface showing basic information about CPU, which includes processor model, socket type, frequency and, of course, temperature. Luckily, it can report separate temperature values for each of the cores. Similarly, it can also tell you the highest temperature rating for your processor, which is used by the program to calculate how hot it is in relative terms. The application can start along with the system and run from the tray. Besides, its icon there shows the current temperature in colored numbers.
Although the tool can be used as it is after installation, you can change its default settings. For instance, you can switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature scales. However, the most important of these settings is, in my opinion, the possibility of enabling overheat protection. This way, you can customize the critical temperature and configure the actions to undertake when it is reached. In this event, it’s possible to show a balloon popup, execute a given program or shut the system down. More
