As you may already know, Google has a plan to make all reCAPTCHA users migrate to reCAPTCHA Enterprise on Google Cloud by the end of 2025. This means a cost increase for many users. I’m writing this post to provide you with a heads-up about this move.
In the next major update (Contact Form 7 version 6.1, which will be released in the first half of this year), we will update the reCAPTCHA integration module according as the Google Cloud version of reCAPTCHA. If you continue using reCAPTCHA, you will be required to migrate the reCAPTCHA keys to a Google Cloud project prior to upgrading Contact Form 7 to 6.1 on your sites.
Also, we plan to introduce the integration module for Cloudflare Turnstile, an alternative CAPTCHA solution, to Contact Form 7 6.1. Cloudflare Turnstile is available for free (at least for now), and we have found that it has potential to work more effectively than Google reCAPTCHA.
