National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) is a time to help people understand their consumer rights and avoid frauds and scams. 

All Week

  • Follow the FTC on X and Facebook for resources and advice on avoiding frauds and scams.
  • Tune in to the Montgomery County (MD) Consumer Connection podcast, where FTC staff will share information on managing money, avoiding scams, and recovering from identity theft.

Monday, March 3

  • In-person event 1:30 – 3pm ET: NACo members, visit the FTC table at the 2025 National Association of Counties Legislative Conference at the Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC. FTC staff will share free materials on avoiding scams and identity theft.
  • In-person event 1 – 3pm PT: Visit with staff from the FTC and Washington State Attorney General’s office at the Puyallup Public Library, 324 South Meridian in Puyallup, Washington. Pick up free FTC resources to help you spot, avoid, and recover from scams and identity theft.

Tuesday, March 4

  • In-person event 10am-12pm CT: Stop by the Fort Worth Main Post Office at 4600 Mark IV Parkway in Fort Worth, TX to pick up free FTC and US Postal Inspection Service resources to help you spot, avoid, and recover from scams and identity theft.
  • In-person event 10am–12pm PT: Visit with staff from the FTC and Washington State Attorney General’s office at the Edmonds Library, 650 Main Street in Edmonds, Washington. Pick up free FTC resources to help you spot, avoid, and recover from scams and identity theft.
  • 1pm ET/12pm CT/10am PT: Join the FTC, Consumer Action, AARP, and others for a train-the-trainer webinar for community-based nonprofits about how to spot, avoid, and report scams. Register here.
  • 2pm ET/1pm CT/11am PT: Join the FTC and the International Association of Better Business Bureaus (BBB) for a webinar about fraud trends and advice on how to spot, avoid, and report imposter scams. Register here.

Wednesday, March 5

  • 11:30am ET/10:30am CT/8:30am PT: Join the FTC for a Spanish-language webinar about how to spot, avoid, and report scams. Learn how staying up to date with the latest scams can help you and people you know combat scams and identity theft. Click here to join the webinar.
  • 12pm PT: Join the FTC, AARP, Placer County (CA) District Attorney's Office, and Social Security Administration for an interactive conversation on your consumer rights and protections to help you stay safe from fraud and scams. Register here.
  • 1pm ET/12pm CT/10am PT: Join the FTC, the National Library for the Blind and Print Disabled, the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services, and AARP for a virtual discussion about free federal and community resources for rural patrons, including information to help you spot and avoid scams.   • 2pm ET/1pm CT/11am PT: Join the FTC and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Benefits Administration for a webinar about protecting your veterans pension and disability benefits from scammers. Register here.

Thursday, March 6

  • In-person event 10am-12pm CT: Stop by the Coit Post Office 3400 Coit Road, Plano, TX 75075 to pick up free FTC and US Postal Inspection Service resources to help you spot, avoid, and recover from scams and identity theft.
  • In-person event 10 am – 12 pm CT: Join FTC staff and the Dallas Police Department for a presentation on spotting and avoiding scams at the Highland Hills Library, 6200 Bonnie View Rd, Dallas, TX 75241.
  • 2pm ET/1pm CT/11am PT: Join the FTC and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Benefits Administration for a webinar (in Spanish) about protecting your veterans pension and disability benefits from scammers. Register here.

Friday, March 7

  • 12:30pm ET/11:30 am CT/9:30 am PT: Join the FTC and AARP for a webinar on free resources for caregivers, parents, and grandparents to help the kids in their lives stay safe online, understand advertising, and spot scams. Register here.
  • In-person event 2pm ET: Join FTC staff for a presentation on spotting and avoiding scams at the Bath Community Physicians Group at 713 South Monroe Avenue, Covington, VA 24426.
  • In-person event 2 – 4pm PT: Visit with staff from the FTC and Washington State Attorney General’s office at the Des Moines Library, 21620 11th Avenue South, in Des Moines, Washington. Pick up free FTC resources to help you spot, avoid, and recover from scams and identity theft.

Saturday, March 8

  • In-person event 10am-2pm ET: Visit with FTC and volunteer attorneys for a Legal Advice Clinic at the Cleveland Public Library, Eastman Campus at 11602 Lorain Ave, in Cleveland, OH. Volunteer attorneys will be available to listen to consumer-related and other civil, non-criminal issues and then offer brief advice or referrals to resources. Attendees will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
