The role will lead the development and implementation of data governance policies, procedures, and practices to optimize data quality, accessibility, and compliance. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will drive data governance initiatives, monitor data-related processes, and ensure alignment with industry standards and regulations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Data Governance Strategy: • Execute a comprehensive data governance strategy aligned with the organization's objectives. • Define data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability. Data Quality and Integrity: • Establish data quality standards, metrics, and processes to monitor and maintain data accuracy and consistency. • Collaborate with teams to identify data quality issues, root causes, and implement corrective actions. Data Catalog and Classification: • Classify data based on sensitivity levels and establish data access controls to safeguard sensitive information. • Catalog data sources with metadata according to standards. • • Work with IT and security teams to enforce data security measures and ensure compliance with data protection regulations. Data Standards and Documentation: • Define data naming conventions, data dictionaries, and metadata standards for consistent data understanding across the organization. • Maintain documentation of data governance policies, processes, and data lineage. Data Governance Framework Implementation: • Implement data governance tools and technologies to support data lineage, data cataloging, and data quality monitoring. • Lead the adoption of data governance practices across the organization, providing training and guidance to staff. Stakeholder Collaboration: • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, legal, compliance, and business units to gather requirements and ensure data governance alignment. • Foster communication between data producers and data consumers to promote understanding and adherence to data governance principles. Compliance and Regulation: • Stay updated with industry regulations (e.g., CCPA, COPPA) and ensure data governance practices are compliant. • Work with legal and compliance teams to implement data privacy and protection measures. Data Governance Reporting: • Create and present data governance progress reports, data quality metrics, and compliance assessments to senior management. Continuous Improvement: • Monitor industry best practices and evolving trends in data governance to enhance the organization's data management capabilities. • Continuously refine data governance policies and procedures based on feedback and changing business needs. • Primary point of responsibility, accountability and activity for the assessment, improvement and governance of quality and ongoing fitness-for-purpose of an organization's critical data assets. • Data stewards are not owners of the data but rather serve as trustees to ensure adequate data quality is maintained so that data can effectively support business processes. • Engages with business leadership to quantify and articulate the business impact of data quality issues. • Assesses the current state of data quality within their scope of responsibility. • Establishes target goals for data quality improvement and identifies optimal approaches for resolving data quality issues to achieve targets. • Works within and beyond area of control to implement improvement approaches. • Identifies data quality metrics and executes data quality audits to benchmark the state of data quality. • Monitors, tracks and reports ongoing data quality levels. Evaluates and improves processes for investigating, documenting, and reporting unauthorized access or disclosure of personal information. • Develops, implements, and updates data related privacy policies, standards and procedures, and corrective actions as needed in response to complaints concerning the organization’s processing of personal information. • Maintains and updates the IT Privacy Program Strategy in collaboration with legal and governance teams. • Creates and delivers privacy related training programs and anti-phishing awareness campaigns for all employees, contractors, and any appropriate third parties. • Responsible for privacy program risk assessments and resulting mitigation and remediation plans. • Maintains current knowledge of applicable data protection laws and accreditation standards. • Collaborates with the cyber security branch to lead discovery, prioritization, and implementation of privacy solutions.
