I always find it cathartic to review the year and make 10 predictions for the next year. Also, I look back at 2024 and see how accurate my predictions were.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Prediction Grade: 60%<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  1. \u274c Biden wins \ud83d\ude2d<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. \u2705Adam Schiff wins<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. \u2705More electric cars available.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. \u2705Ukraine holds on<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. \u2705China does not invade Taiwan, but makes life miserable for many people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. \u2705Bitcoin goes up.(predict 50k – but actually is 100k!!!) \ud83d\ude32<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. \u274cTwitter (X) goes bankrupt. Maybe next year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. \u2705Threads from Facebook does not take off. I am hoping BlueSky opens up more.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. \u274cTennis rating bumped to 4.5. Nope, still 4.0<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. \u274cDraymond Green is traded to another NBA team. (I picked the wrong guy)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    2024 was a tumultuous year, especially in politics. At work, things have been good, but also filled with twists and turns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I have started reducing my news intake, the same way I did in 2016-2020. I remember how exhausting it was watching Trump act crazy every single day. Remember when he just drew a circle on a map with a sharpie? It seems quaint now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    2025 Predictions<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    This year seems harder to predict than any other I can remember. There is so much anxiety and uncertainty. It really can go in many different ways. At the risk of wild naivet\u00e9, I am going to take an optimist point of view. I could be doom and gloom, but I think it just makes me unhappy to think that way. Here are predictions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Trump does not <\/strong>successfully impose martial law or imprison leaders of the democratic party en masse. This may be wishful predicting, but I think the recent events in South Korea give me hope.\n
        \n
      • So World War III will not happen. \ud83e\udd1e\ud83d\ude4f<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Civilization will not collapse<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Great depression will not re-occur <\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • California will not secede from the union *See note below<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • However, the policies passed by the federal government will be odious for sure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Also school shootings and police killings of young black men will sadly hit record highs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Twitter continues to die, Bluesky will have a solid year. I think they will slowly take twitter market share.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Warriors make the playoffs and lose in the quarter finals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Stock Market – Based on republican deregulation plans, I expect record profits at the expense of consumers.\n

        • Nasdaq currently at 20k. In a year, I predict 23k.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Dow Jones at 44k. In a year, I predict 49k.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Bitcoin currently at 104k.In a year predict 140k Mainly I say this because of all the cryptobros in the new administration. This could be even higher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Climate change will continue it’s trend of getting worse and worse every single year. Duh.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Google and Meta will have serious anti-trust attacks from the DOJ. However, it will be mired in the courts and not go anywhere.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Elon Musk will use his influence and money to get the federal government to do things that personally enrich himself. I predict the government will give a big lucrative contract to SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company, and StarLink. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • In a year, I would like to have a new dog, but I predict it doesnt happen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • I start going to the gym on a regular basis to strengthen my joints and improve flexibility. Hopefully, I don’t lose focus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • I’ve been predicting new battery technology for a decade. This is not going to be the year of the 1000 mile affordable electric car.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Note: <\/strong>Interestingly, if you google search “California secession”, one website is YesCalifornia. It was founded in 2015 by Louis J. Marinelli, a right-wing political activist, and its efforts have been supported by the Russian government. We live in dangeous and complicated times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Well, there we go. So much uncertainty. So much anxiety. I am hoping for the best. To everyone out there, Happy Holidays and I hope your 2025 is prosperous, enjoyable, and filled with health and good experiences!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
