Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.
My five were:
1. Comics The love of my life! What I want to study and teach and never get tired of. The great thing about comics is that there are so many kinds, even if I wanted to switch up my genres and look for something completely different, I'd be able to. It took me a while to realize how important comics were to me, and that YES I CAN study my hobby for a living. I am having trouble figuring out storage issues, though. Long-boxes are traditional, but when they're boxed up they're harder to go through, and since my collection is always growing they're never quite organized how I'd like it. I need to figure out a way to file them on my bookshelf. The problem is that they're SLIPPERY LITTLE BASTARDS.
2. Matt/Mohinder Man, I loved this ship. It's kind of all fucked to hell now, but I still like the idea and Matt suffering a crisis and all the ways it had the potential to evolve in S2. Also, the fat guy never gets enough love. That's why I'll always write Mohinder with a preference for men of girth, thankyouverymuch.
3. Superman It took me a good ten years of reading to decide I liked Superman, and even then I liked Lex Luthor more. A lot of people say he's boring because he can do anything, but Superman is a pretty interesting character when he has other characters to bounce off of. And two of my three favorite artists worked on Superman books - Leinil Yu's work on Superman:Birthright makes up the bulk of my Big Blue icons and my LJ layout, and it has what I think should be the most iconic image of the hero IN EXISTANCE. Stuart Immonen worked on a bunch of Superman titles when he was a DC-exclusive, and his style changed a lot as he did that work and I love to read through the backissues and watch it change for tone and content. And Lex Luthor will always, always be my favorite villain ever in anything ever.
4. Slash I have been into slash and yaoi since .. like, a long time. At least 7th grade, but then I met ryuutchi online when I was TEN and probably within a year we were all over the GWML. Remember that, BB? For a long time I was a slash-only kind of girl, but now I'm proud to say that I am a dirty, dirty multishipper and I like all kinds of possible mashups. I think that's because my interest in pairings and why I think they work has relocated (somewhat) to my brainy-parts. Sometimes, it just works and I can't argue with that.
5. Fanfiction I used to write fic ALL THE TIME, back in middle and high school. I fell out of it as I began to RP more, and now that I don't have TIME to RP as much as I'd like, I find that I have picked up on ficcing again. It's fun to play in other peoples' sandboxes, and to "fix" things that don't seem right, and to see if it all jives. Of course, the fact that I'm really picky about prose in general means that I'm kind of a dick in fic communities because I have persnickety tastes. My usual MO is to find the ONE or TWO authors I like in fandom, befriend them, and ignore everything else. ♥ You know you who are, guys, right? |
