This past weekend I had the honor of joining fellow authors Mariahadessa Ekere Tallie and Padma Venkatraman, as well as moderator Christina Bevilacqua, in conversation about book bans and censorship at LitArts RI.

I am thrilled to finally share my brand new book is available for pre-order! Fox River Comics Camp is my dream comic art education book for elementary-age readers, coming October 2026. The book combines an engaging story with fun activities readers can follow along with. Part comics how-to book, part silly joyful narrative, this book has it all for the young cartoonists in your life!

Comic art education is an incredibly effective tool to promote literacy in young people. In this post, I explain the importance of both reading and visual literacy, and then share a lesson plan idea titled “Adaptation.”

This past May I was honored to visit the Rhode Island Library Association Conference as their Keynote Speaker! It was a pleasure to meet so many amazing library professionals and talk about the incredible power that comic books are able to offer young people.

The Freedom to Read legislation has passed in the state of Rhode Island! Back in March I had the pleasure of speaking at a press conference in support of passing the bill.

I am proud to share that I will be the keynote speaker at the Rhode Island Library Association Conference 2025! My speech is titled “Comic Books are Liberation!,” and I’ll be addressing the incredible power of teaching comic book making to children.

Last year I had the pleasure of teaching a 4 week-long comic drawing workshop series at the Providence Public Library, and I’m so happy to be returning again this year!
