Replied to A Plugin For Your Blogged Past by Alan Levine (CogDogBlog)

I rolled up my sleeves and coded my own, now available as the Posted Today plugin. It provides a shortcode that could be used anywhere in your WordPress site (post, page, widget?) but mainly the intent is for a Page.

I love this Alan. I have been thinking about adding a ‘Today’ page to my Collect site for a while. Here it is, thank you. It really adds impetus to collect everything from around the web in one place, such as Facebook and Twitter. Now to work on that.
Replied to Syndication Links 4.0.0 Released by David ShanskeDavid Shanske (david.shanske.com)

As promised previously, I’ve built new syndication code and added supported for Bridgy and Indienews, which both uses Webmentions to trigger a syndication action. This is disabled by default.

Well done with all your work getting this done. I look forward to using it. Thank you.

Heather, not sure what you are looking for with TimelineJS, but @twoodwar has created a plugin to replicate it using WordPress http://bionicteaching.com/portfolio-timeline/

πŸ““ First Gutenberg Experience

I decided to finally install the Gutenberg plugin. I have read a few posts (Jeff Everhart and John Johnston) and realised that I probably should have a look.

My first impression was that it felt like the WordPress.com editor. I can see the appeal of blocks, it works for the new Google Sites and Weebly, but fear that it is overkill for what I do? I also noticed that Post Kinds disappeared.

Interestingly, in the screen providing a summary of all the posts, there is an option for starting a new post in the Gutenberg editor or the classic editor. Maybe this choice is an eye to the future, just wonder if there is a means of making ‘classic’ as default?

I’m a huge fan and repeat user of Martin Hawksey’s Twitter TAGS.
If you are doing a class or project with activity around a hashtag, and you are not using this tool, just stop everything and set one up. It’s rather brilliant, a Google Spreadsheet with some Hawksey-ian script genius underneath…

Replied to WordPress Timeline JS Plugin by Tom Woodward (bionicteaching.com)

Writing blogs posts is nice because it documents things and makes me notice all sorts of things I missed in the heat of trying to get a working plugin but it also sucks because it takes me forever to write the post. These asides are also the reason I have 223 draft posts on my site.

I am loving all your work at the moment Tom around visualisations. I am going to spin this plugin up and see how I go. In regards to ‘events’, how does this relate to the idea of.h-events? Is it the same?

Tiled surfaces are classy. And after doing one the method is learned quickly.
Without knowing I was looking for it I found a seriously awesome WordPress plugin that I can see making a lot of use of.
