The lack of safely managed water sources exposes the villagers to waterborne diseases and, thus, puts their lives and wellbeing at risk. The burden of water fetching, storing, and treatment responsibilities lies on their shoulders. It engages a dancer-choreographer with a philosopher and uses technological tools to assist in connecting dance movements to thought and underlying philosophical notions. Specifically, Laban choreographic notation (a method for “writing dance”) was added to MemoRekall – a software to enhance videos with a sidebar where notations, links, photos, and documents of all kinds can be attached. By observing and documenting dance (through MemoRekall) as an embodied form of desire, the philosopher elaborated on a new “ethics of desire” that is more inclusive and appropriate to the experience of women. The project includes several community dance workshops with children and adults participants, where this new methodology was used.
