Spotlight on Indigenous artists
Hosted by: Shirley Gagnon
Airs: Every Wednesday from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM
Coming up at 3:30 PM on January 21st, 2026:
Julian Taylor and Logan Staats - Songs & Stories Julian Taylor is Mohawk/West Indian and Mohawk heritagepart Mohawk with soul-folk music that blends roots, rock, R&B, and Indigenous influences. He won several significant Canadian music awards, including Canadian Folk Music Awards for Solo Artist of the Year (2022) and English Songwriter of the Year, along with awards from the International Acoustic Music Awards, plus multiple Juno and Native American Music Award nominations for his acclaimed albums like The Ridge. Logan Staats is a Mohawk rocker-turned-folk-and-soul musician from Six Nations of the Grand. He had no formal musical training, no connections—just a good ear, raw lyrical talent, and a guitar always in hand. He played the local circuit for years before his 2015 debut release, Goodbye Goldia, an unvarnished yet hard-hitting solo acoustic album. In 2018, he won CTV’s The Launch with the Lucky One, gaining commercial success and touring across North America and Europe.
