2014 - Founded
Ed and Stephanie Wood establish CoBUILD
CoBUILD was established to support technology companies that require advanced built environments. We launched in the Bay Area, where the growth of biotech, cleantech, and advanced manufacturing created demand for a general contractor skilled in both scientific requirements and tenant improvement. From the start, precision tenant improvement was our core focus.
2016 – 2020
Bay Area Reputation Established
Technically demanding projects across life sciences, advanced tech, and healthcare. CoBUILD earned a reputation for clear communication, close collaboration, and smart execution. Named references include Chase Center, LinkedIn, and Amazon Go, with projects delivered through the same principal-led model the firm was founded on.
2021
Lean Fully Integrated
As one of the few TI contractors implementing the Last Planner System® at this depth, CoBUILD's commitment to continuous improvement has led to the full integration of Lean construction practices, including the Last Planner System® and structured daily huddles across all active projects. The firm became one of the few tenant improvement general contractors in the country operating at this level of Lean practice.
2023
Colorado Expansion
Licensed in California and Colorado · same model, new market. CoBUILD expanded to the Colorado Front Range, bringing the same trade standards, delivery framework, and principal-led culture to a new geography. Today, the firm partners with innovators in science and technology across both markets, meeting tight schedules and solving complex challenges with care and precision.
