What our students are saying about their experience

Jack Richardson

B.M. in Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance and a Certificate in Musical Theatre

“While I went into it almost on a whim, I ended up falling in love with opera. Now, I work for Opera Carolina’s Opera Xpress program. We have the incredible job of coming to elementary schools across Charlotte (and beyond) and performing opera. For most kids, this is their introduction to the genre, so it’s really gratifying to see them get excited about it.”

Taylor McNamara

B.M. in Music with a concentration in Vocal Performance and B.A. in Theater with a concentration in Performance

“I could go on about the support and encouragement from the lovely community that is the CoA+A. My favorite part of the day is walking into Robinson and getting to greet the loveliest people. There are truly countless professors and peers who are genuine and will support you in whatever you choose to pursue, as long as you are willing to take that first step. It really does feel like home.”

Eli Mathew

B.M. in Music with a concentration in Instrumental Music Performance

“My favorite thing about the music department at UNC Charlotte is the sense of community. Due to our size, everyone knows everyone which means you get really close to people and you create bonds and friendships that are really closely knit.”
