CSOV fleet
A Commissioning Service Operation vessel (CSOV) is a vessel that supports construction, commissioning and maintenance activities at offshore energy farms. It serves as a floating base for personnel and equipment, enabling safe and efficient access to offshore assets.
We have designed our CSOVs in cooperation with Damen Shipyards. The result is a revolutionary new design with increased capabilities and flexibility compared to existing vessels. The vessels are 87 m long, 20 m wide and can accommodate 120 people on board. The CSOVs are being built at Ha Long Shipyard, Vietnam.
The vessels are equipped with the latest gangway, crane, thrusters, hybrid battery technology and offshore charging capability, among other industry-leading features. To significantly reduce the vessels’ CO₂ footprint, we build on the operational experience we have with our hydrogen-powered CTVs. A dual fuel hydrogen genset will enable the auxiliary power to run on hydrogen. The hydrogen genset, storage and fuel supply system are ready for integration on the vessel once final approvals are in place.
The first Windcat CSOVs are already delivered, the next ones are expected this year.
The best flexible high performing design
The six identical vessels are built to be flexible to meet the offshore energy market demands today and tomorrow, can be quickly mobilised or swapped when required and are designed to operate with high operability and maximum fuel efficiency in the OWF. The vessels are capable and designed to integrate, amongst others, daughter craft or different kinds of ROV’s or swap to underwater construction support or surveys.

Innovative
As part of our decarbonising mission, the vessels are delivered with the latest available technologies in terms of e.g. fuel efficiency and emission control such as closed switchboard configuration, high efficiency thrusters, hydrogen dual fuel engines and battery power are only the start. Next innovations include developing a new industry standard for motion compensated gangways safety and operation, station keeping integration with gangway operations and higher Hs capabilities.
