The new way to making solar adoption easier in India with AI

I believe that Google Cloud has a superior AI and machine learning offering, at least based on the specific use cases that we foresee for Aerem. Considering both short- and long-term benefits, its stability and future potential made it the best fit for our needs.

Ahmad Maredia

Chief Technology Officer, Aerem

In India, implementing a distributed solar ecosystem can be challenging for businesses due to the fragmented market that lacks large organized players. As a software as a solution (SaaS) company licensed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Aerem aims to bridge this gap by providing an end-to-end solution for solar adoption, from finding the right installer to ensuring the right price, equipment, quality, and financing. Its goal is to empower small and medium sized enterprises (MSME) to harness the power of the sun and reduce electricity costs.

As the company continues to grow, it migrated from its previous cloud provider to Google Cloud at the end of 2024, with support from Ankercloud. This migration reduced infrastructure costs by 25% and improved identity management. The team is exploring its AI potential for the business with Vertex AI, for a new service offering that provides instant answers and insights about solar adoption.

Why Google Cloud?

I personally prefer the way Google Cloud implements access control, as the permissions are on the object level rather than account level. This makes it easier to audit who has access to what objects, at an individual level.

Ahmad Maredia

Chief Technology Officer, Aerem

For the short-term, Aerem's selection of Google Cloud was in part due to the Google for Startups Cloud Program, which offered commercial incentives. However, more importantly, Maredia explains that it was the smooth production environment, its developer-friendly features, and the Google Cloud IAM (Identity Access Management) that ultimately confirmed his decision.

Ankercloud's support helped to bring the team through the migration with zero downtime. Its proactivity to finding solutions to Aerem's business-specific challenges also gave Aerem the confidence to move forward.

While no AI use-cases have been implemented yet, Aerem is already testing its first AI-driven chatbot for a new service offering, driven by Vertex AI, which is set to launch at the end of Q4, 2025.

Aerem, a solar panel adoption platform in India, migrated to Google Cloud to improve cost efficiency, enable new IAM methods, and smoothen its production environment. It also explored Vertex AI to offer new, AI-powered products to its customers.
