Baseline Annotation

The Baseline Annotation curation process involves annotating biomedical literature in a standardized form to support the work of ClinGen Expert Panels in evaluating variant pathogenicity, gene-disease validity, and more.

The ClinGen Community Curation (C3) working group utilizes a standardized approach to annotate biomedical literature to support the work of expert panels. Baseline Annotation improves data transparency through the use of a web-based annotation tool, Hypothes.is, and has the potential to expedite the evaluation of variant pathogenicity, gene-disease validity and more. This process allows annotators to:

  • Learn the processes of annotation and biocuration.
  • Contribute to ClinGen efforts at a self-regulated, autonomous pace.
