I am of the opinion that there is never enough (good) fanfiction in the world, and who better to write it than you, my talented friends list?
Two great ficathon-type thingies for you to peruse if you haven't already. seasonal_spuffy has announced its Spring round, and the theme is comedy Spuffy. The theme is entirely optional though. I've always used the theme, myself, because I like a challenge. But this time around I'm going to ignore it completely, as I'm sometimes contrary like that. That, and I already had an idea before the theme was chosen. Go, sign up!
Also, the fabulous soundingsea is running the Freewheelin' Ficathon. Choose a Bob Dylan lyric snippet from the list and write a fic inspired by it for the fandom of your choice. What could be easier than that? Go check it out - lots of great lyrics still up for grabs.
Come on, you know you want to. And if you don't, Spike will have to put on more tacky Season 6 type jewelry. And no one wants that.
I realized yesterday that it was the three month anniversary of the date fics were due for the Welcome Back to the Hellmouth Ficathon that was organzied by spicklething and me. Lots and lots of great fic was produced, but like any ficathon, a few stories remain unwritten. While we still hope to see stories from the originally assigned writers (we know - stuff happens), we'd really like to give the participants a story they can enjoy now. And if they end up getting two stories - hey, bonus!
Therefore, I am now seeking back-up writers. If you are interested (sp23, I know it's been awhile - still game?) in being a back-up writer and can produce a 1000 word or more story within the next couple of weeks, please let me know. In fact, let's make the new due date Friday, August 31st. You can, of course, post sooner than that. :-) Comment here or email me (cindergal @ livejournal.com) if you are interested, and I can give you more details on the requests.
What we have available are: Three Spuffy requests, one Spike/Angel or Spike/Connor, and one femslash story (several different pairings okay).
BTW, many thanks and cookies going out once again to soundingsea for volunteering to write another story! (She already wrote one wonderful back-up for this ficathon.) She rocks and stuff. :-)
ETA: Now we have one Spuffy, and one Spike/Angel or Spike/Connor left.
One of the writers for the Welcome Back to the Hellmouth Kinkathon had to drop out, so I am seeking a back-up writer for a requested S/B story. If you can help us out, please let me know here or by email. If you'd like to know more details about the request before committing, that's cool - let me know, and I'll email them to you.
I was lucky enough to receive a pretty recently at the Fang Fetish Awards for my B/A ficlet, Haunted For the new people on my list, this is a post-NFA, S/B friendly B/A ficlet. Also, voting is now open for their Reader's Choice awards as well, so check it out. Many thanks to the judges and whoever nominated the fic!
I also wanted to let everyone know that I'm making steady progress on In Your Hands for the Welcome Back to The Hellmouth Kinkathon, and am itching to work on The Open Halls of the Soul as soon as that's done. Real life has been a bitch lately, but I should have more time to write in the next few days.
And while we're on the subject of the ficathon, if your own delay has become an oh my God I'm never going to be able to write this, please just let us know (you can email one of us). It's no big - stuff happens. But our goal is for everyone to have a fic if possible, so we'd like to know if we need to seek a back-up writer.
And unrelated to anything, I changed my layout to something a little more summery - even though our summer weather seems to have disappeared for the forseeable future. Brrr.
Today is the posting day for the Welcome Back to the Hellmouth Kinkathon! Please check out the Master List in spicklething's journal. And if you participated in the ficathon, please post a link to your fic there in the comments. Kelly will be updating throughout the day.
All your favorite fic kinks and many characters and pairings will be represented. Lots of Spike/Buffy, too.
My own fic has been delayed by migraine. I hope to have it up later today.
I've already had the pleasure of reading two of the fics on the list, and they are both outstanding. And both happen to be of the "Five Things" variety as well:
Go. Read. Enjoy. And don't forget to feedback the writers!
Oh, it's Mother's Day too, isn't it? *g* Wishing a very Happy Mother's Day to all my fellow moms. I hope your family lets you read lots of fanfic today! :-D
One of the writers for our Welcome Back to the Hellmouth ficathon needs to bow out due to other commitments. Therefore, we are in need of a back-up. Posting day is not till May 13, so you've got almost a month to write. If you were one of the people who said you might be interested in being a back-up, now's your chance. If you're interested, please pop on over to Kelly's journal and let her know.
Just a reminder that sign-ups for the Welcome Back To The Hellmouth Kinkathon are going on now in co-conspirator spicklething's journal. Many fabulous writers have already signed up - but several of you haven't. I know who you are. Don't make me come over there. :-)
You can sign-up here in Kelly's journal. Sign-ups are open until this Sunday.
Good morning and Happy Anniversary! In celebration of ten years of Buffy, spicklething and I are organizing a Welcome Back to the Hellmouth Kinkathon. Whether your fic kink is hurt/comfort, bitey, baby or anything else, don't be shy. Name your fic kink! This ficathon will be all characters/pairings from BtVS and AtS, but never fear - we will make every effort to ensure you get the pairing and/or character(s) you want to write.
So I was chatting with spicklething yesterday, discussing all the fanfic that we plan to write. Someday. And how we wish there was more fic being written. And the subject of ficathons came up. We realized that we had not run across one in awhile, so we said hey, maybe we should run one! And then, hey, maybe we should find out if anyone is interested first! Hence this poll. If you haven't already filled it out in Kelly's journal, please fill it out here. And feel free to pimp if you so desire.
Thanks to redeem147 for sponsoring the fabulous Jonathanathon, the ficathon with the coolest name ever. *g* Here is my entry (It's done! It's done!):
Written for: Tista Maximum rating (G to nc-17) to read: NC-17 Another character in your story (ship optional): Andrew or Spike (Spuffy)or Any Other One thing you want to see: illumination through humor One thing you DON'T want to see: Trio Slash
Summary: Spike and Jonathan and conversations with dead people.
Author's note: Takes place during an alternate version of "Conversations with Dead People." Rated PG 13. I tried to write humor and ... something else happened. I hope it still has some funny. Also, I realized after writing it that is shares some similarities with a story Doyle wrote for a ficathon a while back ("Skin Deep"), which is either entirely coincidental or the result of subconcious influence. :-) My apologies, and I can only hope it's a millionth as effective as hers.
When you're writing a story for a ficathaon? And you finish it? And you're really happy with it? And then you realize it's only half as long as it's supposed to be?
Oh wow, I didn't even think you were on LJ anymore and certainly no longer in the fandom, so it's a lovely surprise to get your reply. Are you still writing fic? Are you still a Buffy/Spuffy fan?

You capture Angel's bitter sweet reactions so well here.
Make sense.
Thanks so much again for reading and commenting. It's always nice to get…
