Kharagpur is the oldest of the IITs and commands great respect in India as well as abroad. One would have welcomed its interest in ancient Indian scientific heritage. But, regrettably, respect for fact, the separation of fact from fiction, critical evaluation of various types of texts, and the intellectual probity that one would like to associate with the IITs are missing here.
The Science Congress has lost its way. There is a strong case for abolishing it altogether
Jupiter spends a year in one rashi, but the celebrations do not last that long. To narrow down the time span, help is taken from the sun and the moon. To describe the path of the sun, the zodiacal list is headed by Aries (Mesh). For some reason, in the case of Jupiter, the most important rashi is Aquarius (Kumbh). Though Saha and SN Bose (of Bose-Einstein statistics) were part of the British Empire, professionally they were children of Germany.
. This is to set the record straight. More fundamentally, debate on any reform should be based on contemprary considerations
Max Muller worked about 150 years ago. Vedic studies were new at the time; much of the corpus had not yet been translated or analyzed; and archaeology of India was still into the future. There was thus hardly anything to constrain speculation. The Norwegian Indologist Lassen suggested that the Sarasvati river of the old Rigvedic mandalas was the old Ghaggar in Haryana. Max Mueller accepted the hypothesis and popularized it. In contrast, the Germany-based Hillebrandt identified Sarasvati with a river in South Afghanistan. While Hillebrandt has been ignored, without going into the arguments proffered by him, for reasons of convenience, the Lassen-Mueller hypothesis has not only been accepted but elevated to the level of a gospel truth.

were tested in Europe and incorporated into the industrial and scientific mainstreams without acknowledgement.
