LAVENDER FIELDS

Check out these beautiful lavender pictures. We have a little lavender plant in a pot on our patio. In recent years I have really learned to like lavender a lot. These pictures of a lavender farm near Fredricksburg, Texas were e-mailed to me recently. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

RESURRECTION

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” Matthew 28:1-8.

1 Corinthians 15:6-8 (New International Version, ©2011) 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also . . . .

John 11:25-26 NIV – Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

My answer to the question Jesus asked is “Yes.” I definitely believe this.

Because I think this is such an important subject, I’m doing something I’ve never done before. I’m posting this on this blog and also on my At Home in Arizona blog.  Of course I’m linking it to Spiritual Sundays. You’re invited to visit the Spiritual Sundays blog for links to many inspirational posts.

PALM BRANCHES

Revelation 7:9 (New International Version, ©2011) The Great Multitude in White Robes

9 After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.

I have read this scripture many times, but today was the first time I actually paid attention to the last part about holding palm branches.

Palm Sunday commemorates Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem the Sunday before he was crucified as was prophesied hundreds of years before.  John 12:13 ~ They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna! ” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” We have a lot of palm trees in our area. I’m glad that we do. As I look outside at our palm trees, it reminds me of these verses.

I hope Palm Sunday will be a special day for everyone who reads this post.

I hope you will be reading the many inspirational posts that will be linked this weekend to Spiritual Sundays.

PINK SATURDAY

Here’s some pink in our family room next to the TV. Found this Christmas cactus at Lowe’s the other day. I know it isn’t Christmas, but it was PINK so I was glad to find it. And there’s the pink candle.

Pink in plates over the windows in dinette.

And more pink in the same area.

Stained glass in high window over the sink I made almost 20 years ago. Some pink in it, of course.

Also made a stained glass (with pink in it) for the window in the laundry room. Here it is.Thanks again, Beverly, for hosting Pink Saturday. Click HERE to go to her blog for over 100 links to pinkness.

HERE’S THAT PINK HAT AGAIN

I had so many comments and compliments on my pink hat (shown here at left and in my profile picture at the right) that I shared on Pink Saturday and wore to the Blogger tea that I tried to find a picture of me wearing it when I first got it back in the mid 60s. I don’t seem to have a picture of me wearing it, but I did find this picture of my niece wearing the hat. She  borrowed it to wear one Easter. This must have been in 1965 or 66. Here is a picture I took at that time. Linda – seated – is wearing the hat. It looks quite different without the flowers and tulle. Her Mom is wearing a pink hat also and they are both wearing pink suits so here they are for Pink Saturday about 45 years later.  And by the way, if you know Ginger who co-hosts Spiritual Sundays with me – the young boy in the picture is now her husband. That’s how she got to be my niece. She married my nephew (and I’m sure glad she did).

Happy PINK SATURDAY. Now I hope you will go visit Beverly at How Sweet the Sound to find links to many many wonderful pink posts.
